Re: Today's MatchaWan :D (new name, but tea's the same)

I just received my Michael Coffee (shyrabbit) tenmoku and nuka chawan.

I have yet to take a shot that does the chawan justice, but here's today's matcha (sakuraka).

Nice David!
Looks oh so yummy.
And I love that 1st matcha shot - the crispness, the light on the bubbles, the crackling on the plate. Pops for me.

A beautiful, purple Jeff Guerroro chawan arrived today. The carvings feel great on my hands, and it looks great with matcha inside.

It's a bit narrow at the top so I had to bring in the electric frother. Please excuse the unsightly oversized bubble.

Wow, what a great purple! It works incredibly well with the green...

But I gotta ask.... electric frother? What does that look like? Beside that, I sometimes manage to get some quite large bubbles when I hand-whisk.

I ask this question out of ignorance -- is there any matcha-principle that says the bubbles must all be small?

I know!

As for electric frothers, I have one of these. They're usually used for frothing milk for lattes.

I got the big bubble thing from this video. I honestly don't think it really matters since I drink it quickly after whisking, but I do think the "field of green jade" (AKA all tiny bubbles) does look a little prettier, so I wished I had it for the photo. :)

Beautiful double walled summer chawan Cory!
Lovely amethyst carved chawan Karma!
I love all your bubbles large or small. :D
And, of course - Cory - I just love the bit of foam left in the chadamari - love, love, love that.
Cheers to all.

There's often something wonderful about simple, aka "cheap" in this case.
:D
Great share Ikj - thank you.
