I am with everyone else, I think she was banned once and we don't need a reason to ban her again.

I agree 100%. I have PMed her.

Til then, please try not to give her grounds to cry harrassment, etc, which is a rule violation. In our past experience, she has shown the aptitude to play the victim card very well.

And she would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for those meddling kids!

I am curious to see what her next move will be. She opened my PM a while ago and has not replied, nor posted since. Hopefully, knowing that she is busted is enough to nudge her to move on. I am sure we will know soon enough.

Or learn to hide her identity a bit better.

I mean come on you guys still haven't figured out that Oliver and I are one and the same!

That's kinda what I'm worried about as well - if we wait until she fesses/slips up, then next time she's just going to be more careful. It seems like you guys have all the ammo you need, and should probably just ban her. I seriously doubt that she's smart enough to use proxies in the future, though :)

I came this close to posting in the TeaDay thread this morning: "Yeah, cept that chick.. man she was dumb. She was actually in a wheelchair because she's so severely retarded, and tried to shove that in people's faces..." ...I figured that the mods might not like that, though

Worry not, ABx, worry instead whether you will get the teapot you want on Thursday. 8)

There simply needs to be a sequence to be fair to whoever she is.

I agree, we banned a person, not a user name, but there is not exactly unanimity on this issue. Uncharted waters.

She was snared in the first day she was here, I knew something was up when she played victim with me when I greeted her in Introduction, calling her CoughTea and c*ffTea, she got pretty mad about it. I thought, wtf. Then literally w/i minutes she offended another member in an ironic twist of events. From that point on I watched her.

Point is, she cannot help herself. A leopard cannot change its spots.

Yeah, as Chip insinuated, I'm actually all for giving Mocha/Cofftea a chance to redeem herself. I think there is a distinction between a username and the real person behind it, and unless there is incontrovertible evidence that one username is linked to a banned username, I think we should treat the names as separate entities.

The fact is that I banned Mocha's username, e-mail, and all the IP addresses she posted under. None of Cofftea's info has been the same as Mocha's. Occam's razor would support that two people appearing to have so much in common, living so close together, and having the same first two initials would be the same person. They probably are the same person, but there is no evidence to prove the two accounts are in any way linked. Therefore, I would prefer to treat Cofftea as though she didn't have Mocha's history. If we ban her, I would like it to be based upon her behavior under this new name.

And that's what I think about the matter.

Yeah, she shows a lot of signs of redeeming herself. Frankly, she is stinking up the place and making the forum a less enjoyable place to share about ... tea, not tea and vodka. The fact that her "polls" and stupid topics all over tyhe place makes it impossible to avoid her.

Why bother banning if a banned member can simply turn right around and reregister under another user name.

I am all for making certain she is the banned member in question prior to further action.

Perhaps putting a carrot out there that the member can submit an application for readmittance after a designated period of time would reduce the incentive to reregister covertly under another name.

I didn't say she would, I just said she should be given the chance.

The way I see it, if we're wrong and they are two different people, and an innocent yet annoying person gets banned, so what. We're not talking about wrongfully imprisoning a person due to mistaken identity. Its just a forum, and is cofftea, whoever she is, really someone we'd miss?

I do not see any doubt at all that this is her. Not sure where that is coming from.
I have seen her FaceBook entry and it is the same picture and it has her full name.
Up until recently her email was listed on her profile here and it is her initials and last name.

She was banned, and I do not think we should allow a new username to stand. The person was banned, not the username. Unless you want to put time limits on banning, I don't see why she should be allowed a second chance. Leopards don't change their spots.

They way I see it, she had her chance - if she wanted to make a new username and come on here and blend in that would be one thing. But obviously she is causing disruption or we wouldn't be talking about it here.
