Thanks Chamekke!!
Very nice cups Beidao! I love the tin, I'm partial to birds, especially in pairs.
Sweet!

I love sake cups and very much enjoyed your photos - thank you.Beidao wrote:Selaphiel: I found them in a little japanese store. I did suspect they were meant for sake drinking, but who cares anyway ^_^
Incidentally, I own quite a few sake cups, and several of them are rather large (as sake cups go!). So while they may be meant for sake drinking, they can make wonderful tea cups too. One of these days I'll post some pics.

For the chawan fans on TeaChat, I decided it might be fun to photograph some sake cups that actually look like miniature chawan-s. I was assisted by a little English badger:

The most impressive piece is the Sasaki Tadashi guinomi behind Badger... but he prefers the simpler cup by B.C. potter Lynne Johnson. Possibly because it's the one with the sake in it:

A rueful look, as he realizes I'm not going to let him drink any:

This is the Oribe guinomi by the late Sasaki Tadashi (a very lucky find at a consignment shop):

Although I do love it for drinking sake, I'd give anything to be able to put it into a transmogrifier and enlarge it into a chawan!

Incidentally, these aren't among the sake cups that I sometimes use for tea-drinking. Those may appear in another posting

Thanks Chamekke! Sweet badger!
The one in the back on the left; is that brown or black?

Thank you Salsero and Victoria! (You may be seeing more badgers...)
It's black; and although it's a little distorted by the camera angle, the shape is very nearly tenmoku-style, which is why I bought it. (I can provide better-quality close-up shots of the cups if anyone is interested.)Victoria wrote:Thanks Chamekke! Sweet badger!

Yay!! Well after months of resisting - I finally did it - I bought the Molo Fritted Tea Lantern -
it is so gorgeous! I love it! I love glass anyway, so of course I would love it! The lantern
is all one piece and double-walled so it keeps the tea hot and it also comes with a small glass
tealight candle to set underneath if needed. I have had the fritted tea cups for awhile, I am
so happy with the lantern!
