Thanks, Iannon. Only the one photo was working last time I was here. Very nice stuff.
Same sentiments to Chip on gorgeous new bowls and to Amy 210 on the sweet collection.

I'd try it on anything that likes heat ... oolongs, puerh, black. It's great looking and I don't see why it wouldn't work. Let us know how it goes.

Chip, that's a really beautiful chawan. I love Seigan's blue - truly kosmische! I just hope your supernatural visitor likes tea...

where exactly would one acquire trays like those?
ebay
Interesting and pretty, Olivier! What did the eBay listing describe them as? (meaning, what is their intended/original use?)
Japanese vintage silver set 3 trays gin with box.
ITEM DESCRIPTION: JAPANESE VINTAGE SIVER SET OF THREE TRAYS WITH SIGNED BOX. WRITTEN ON THE ORIGINAL BOX IS THE KANJI "GIN" WHICH MEANS SILVER.
AGE:EARLY SHOWA C1930
No indication for their intended use.
Hi Olivier,
It took me a while ... but I finally asked a Japanese friend to translate what it says on the box. She replied this morning:
"The Kanji says: Gin (silver) Shiage (literally, finished. but this case, it means coated) Meimei Zara (individual small plate)."
So, these are "silver-plated individual serving plates".
I'm still not sure what their intended use is.
Meimeizara (especially the lacquered wood type) are sometimes used for serving sweets in tea ceremony, but of course meimeizara can appear outside that context. In any event - definitely for serving some type of food!

Yes, but you may be able to find one or two people who would be willing to take the excess off your hands. Very nice chawan ...
another very nice chawan!

Yes, definitively. Chawan fever is difficult to cure.
Well of course the answer is that everyone should stop making and selling them. Either that or just skip the agony and send them all to me right now.

New tetsubin from Artistic Nippon. The copper kettle isn't new, but I havent posted a large photo of it before.
I can't believe how much a tetsubin changes the taste/texture of water. Surprisingly enough, I've found that it benefits my Dan Cong the most. Tetsubin water intensifies the coveted "honey water" quality. It also mellows shu, like I imagine "terre et feu" teaware would.

I really like that cup..its a bit larger and I use it for my daily teas that i brew in somewhat larger amounts. The textures and feeling of it are just awesome. Its a US potter that sells on ETSY. I've been eying a couple of his smaller ones now that i have one from him. I do enjoy my Japanese pottery but there is also something to be said about supporting your homegrown artists. Let me know if you want his info to take a peek at his other stuff
