I think we will be hearing more quite soon regarding Eiichi!
<PERK> I heard that!
Re: The unofficial/official HAGI topic!
I received an order of Tsuru-jirushi gyokuro from O-Cha yesterday, so it seemed like a good time to revisit an old Hagi friend I haven't used for a while... this was an early SO piece, I can't keep the numbers straight anymore!
Sorry for the mediocre quality of the iPhone pics... I never seem to have my Nikon here when the teaware-photo bug bites me.
I always loved the heart shape on the side...

And in my hand, to show the actual size a bit more clearly... it holds about 2 oz.

And a lovely little blue SO wan to hold the nectar...

And the leaf...

And the nectar...

And may I add, I have only had 2 or 3 different gyokuro examples before this one, but it is easily the BEST I have ever had. Wow. Yummmm.

You should see the cups that came with them! I have 4, and they are really cute, but I honestly will never use them for tea because I just can't go for such small quantities. They are not much bigger than thimbles.

Thanks for the photos! Oh, Tsuru is realllly good! Are you steeping at least 2 grams per ounce water?kymidwife wrote:You should see the cups that came with them! The houjin holds 2-3 ounces tops. I usually do real mini brews in this one, around 1.5-2 ounces. Great for evening mini sessions. Or really expensive gyo.
Yeah, those cups are realllly small. Maybe for 100 USD gyo?
Wow Sarah, you have really used the houjin, nice aging!
Re: The unofficial/official HAGI topic!
So here are the cups to the set... with the Tempest beside the houhin for scale...

I should probably sell or trade at least 2 of these little guys... wanted them for the purposes of a complete set, but truly they are just not something I am ever likely to use much at all. If anyone per-chance was interested in acquiring any or all of these, feel free to PM me.

Chip... actually I have only used it handful of times... less than 10, I'd guess. It was a fast crackler!Chip wrote:Thanks for the photos! Oh, Tsuru is realllly good! I followed the package directions on 1 gram per ounce and thought... meh, it's ok... it was really light, not what I was after. Knowing you always go heavy on the leaf, I tried again and doubled up, and it was freakin' fantastic! I'm all jacked up on gyo.... LOL.

Re: The unofficial/official HAGI topic!
How I would have loved to have known about TeaChat when this SO came out.
I so want a houhin/set like this. Such a perfect size, too.
Big time teaware envy!
These aren't really widely available, are they?
Thanks for sharing nonetheless

Wow Sarah, wonderful shots of your some of your HagiWarz!! Thanks for sharing them with us.
Yeah, that gyo is dynamite! Def my fave of the bunch right now. I could drink it everyday, but "You know Who" won't let me!
