AN has a nice though static offering, service is excellent.
Zencha is even more static, but they offer some really nice pieces/sets.
Magokorodo on ebay is likely the more pop ebay seller of Hagi. Outside of this seller, be aware that there are some shady ebay sellers selling "Hagi."
And of course there are the Hagi SOs.

Really like that sense of the tranlucency of the glaze in this shot. Can't wait, but will have to....

The infamous SO "Snowdrifts" with Yi Me Ren black tea from Norbu. Really neat sweetness at the back of the throat, tastes different from most blacks I've had.

That's a nice one! How much tea is in it? 3 oz/90 ml?
Tempest was your first Hagi, right? So you're officially addicted as well

Hehe yes this is my second Hagi and I suspect it is not going to be the last
I think it can take somewhere around 90-100 ml, and it also fits very nicely in my hand because of the curvy shape. It feels a bit more heavy, solid and thick-walled than most of my Japanese teacups.
It was sold as a guinomi, but I'm still a bit confused what factors determine the sake/tea distinction. Is it just depending on the size, is it also affected by the shape or thickness of the clay? Or simply "it is what the artist says it is"? I'm wondering why so different drinks as sake (cold, colorless, transparent) and tea (hot, yellow/green, semitransparent) did not lead to a greater difference in preferred drinking vessels...

Uber nice Nenugal!
It is a guinomi if you use it for sake, it is a sencha-wan if you use it for sencha ... you can determine its ultimate fate.
Typically Mago will sell anything as a guinomi if it is under 3" (~ 8 cm) in diameter. This one might be sitting on the fence.

Thank you, Chip!
This is 7 cm in diameter and 7 cm tall so I guess it is rather large for a guinomi.
So if understand correctly, it is primarily an issue of marketing, decided by the vendor (not by the artist), if it is sold as a guinomi or a senchawan/yunomi, as long as it has a size where it can comfortably be used as either?

Well, not exactly. If the artist signs the box and calls it a guinomi, I would think a seller like Mago would sell it as such. But unless you can read the kanji on the box, how would you know?
Still, ultimately you get to make the final decision on its fate.

Thanks, this is really educational.

Based on the nice Japanese-English Tea Glossary
http://www.teachat.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... 5&p=181844, it seems that the Seigan-signed box agrees with Mago and says guinomi.
I say I will use it for tea.

I'm selling a few of my Deishi white Hagi pieces, so I decided to do a family portrait for posterity:
