A cat broke a mass produced cup today, not a huge deal except it was part of a Chinese set. I can't remember last time I broke a piece of teaware. Cats on the other hand ... lots of memories.

I havent got it in me to throw it in the trash, I dont know what to do with it. Its still on the table in pieces and I hate looking at it like that. Like my bro said earlier today, its like looking at a dead body. Should I bury it ?

It is not uncommon to bury broken teaware ... read that somewhere on TC.

I have always scattered broken pottery in my gardens and flower pots. This way I do not have to throw them out and it really adds a nice touch. Children love to go digging for them too. I collect porcelain shards in the river when it gets low to add to my gardens. It is so much better than throwing them out.

I live along the banks of a very large river in an old industrial city, there used to be lots of rubish discarded in the river and you can always find interesting broken (and even still in tact) pieces of porcelain and glass on the banks, my brother recently made a mosaic with the pieces he'd collected.

That's really cool! I have a home in an ancient village on the Li River, and the riverbed is filled with ancient pottery shards, most of them are quite beautiful even though they are but broken pieces. So every fall, before the rainy season, I go out with my shovel and dig up more. I always thought they'd make an awesome mosaic, but I lack the skill and time to do such a thing, so I just scatter them in my flower beds and pots.
