First, let me say hi to everyone, i'm a new member and this is my first post on the forum.

if you are ready to order more than one shincha from Yuukicha, then Sayamakaori and Kanayamidori might form an interesting pair : Sayamakaori is announced to be on the sweet and (faintly) floral side, the latter on a more fruity register. each seems to go with specific mouthfeel.
well hello and welcome Alan!

Welcome Alan Logan. Are you related to newbie Logan6?

It is raining shincha ... finally after the LONGGGGGGGG drought of being virtually sencha-less for almost 6 weeks.

Last week, Yuuki-Cha shincha arrived, then GreenTeaLovers. Today Maeda-En and O-Cha.

Still MUCH more to come including Maiko, Den's, Zencha, O-Cha, Yuuki-Cha.

Yesterday I got my shincha shots, I felt like I was flying, it was like a breath of fresh air, and the effec of th tetsubin on the tea was beyond any other teaware I had tried, banko had an effect, but the tetsubin is many times stronger influence on sencha.

I went with your advice, I bought both those, Kanayamamidori and Sayamakaori, plus that handpicked Tenryu Misakubo, I am very eager, I have been told that their sencha`s are very good.
But they only due to be sent after 30`th of may, fortunately I have 200 grams of shincha that is just enough for 2 weeks, generally we (3 person) can consume 400 grams of sencha/month

Look for a new "forum" under Tea and Teaware later today ... I hope. It will be a ... woot  :!:

Ah, very interesting indeed! It would be even more interesting to do a side by side comparison with all other Yutaka Midori available to see if it's worthy of the name "Diamond Leaf".

O-Cha's shincha Hatsumi arrived at my door today.

I believe I will hold off on opening this one until my Yuuki-Cha order comes in. I have a LOT of open tea right now.

+1, thanks for sharing with us mang-en. And welcome to the forum.

I read about this Umami offering. We all know about sencha being steamed, but also ... one of the last stages of production for sencha is a light roasting. There are different levels of this roasting and some will be quite noticable once you start to learn about it more.

Normally this happens after tea that has been stored as aracha is pulled out of cold storage. It is sorted and given this roasting to finish it off. Of course shincha is never stored as aracha, and it is roasted after sorting usually ... just prior to final packaging.

I would predict that this non roasted version is going to be lighter and less rounded, less depth. But this would be interesting to try. The same effect could be obtained by tasting aracha or farmer's tea (except aracha has not been sorted).
