Re: Radiation and Tea in Japan
Nice to see the results. If I was reading them correctly, I wonder if the Gyokuro tested slightly higher due to the fact that when it is shaded for an extended length of time it needs to get more nutrients from the soil. (Or is my lack of biological understanding, really apparent in this post?)
Re: Radiation and Tea in Japan
I would think source location would be a larger factor, but for two plants grown in the same area, gyo's higher values could be explained by increased nutrient uptake.

OK, this topic is back again after a brief review. The last post was removed (and stored) and the poster's account has been deactivated for review due to possible forum rules' violations.

I have not received a copy of the report as promised ... did anyone else?
If you submitted a copy of your email address to this individual, I would definitely ... be aware and beware ... there is something ... not right going on.

Yes ... then something snapped. A complete about face from his previous posts (however even then I was keeping a watchful eye), his last post was a doozy. It was spammy, threatening, and "trollish." I believe it revealed his true motives ... nature.
And I am being conservative in my wording. Unfortunately at this time due to possible legal ramifications, I cannot say much more.
However I was quite clear in my OP to this topic that such abuse would not be tolerated in this newer radiation topic.

Re: Radiation and Tea in Japan
My thoughts too. But I did receive a copy of the report from a 3rd party, it seems legit. I will let you know if I hear anything contrary.puerhking wrote:Bummer. Now we don't know if this whole thing was legit.
I also received a report from Kevin of O-Cha who confirmed readings of virtual zero on his teas tested in Japan which are in line with the readings of this round of tests. Thus I feel the reported figures are correct.
Since Dan of Yuuki-Cha will not respond to my contacts, I cannot obtain any confirmation there. However I did notice an anomaly in the testing reported there. Supposedly there was to be standardized testing based upon bq/kilo of Aracha. However ... for instance, reading through the reportings, they make mention of testing of brewed tea for Miyazaki in 2012 which could potentially give much different readings. This was a big point of contention with regard to growers, etc. wanting to test brewed tea which they felt would be easier for them to pass the testing under the legal limits (or so I read at the time).
I do not know why the Aracha was not tested??? Supposedly this was the standard for any tea to be exported.

Hm...still the Gyokuro has the highest readings...
And I'm munching the leaves from the 2011 harvest
I am probably paranoid... but until I have had any kids, I want to be extra extra careful.

Though keep in mind the Highest readings are still basically a effective dose of zero....Maneki Neko wrote:Hm...still the Gyokuro has the highest readings...![]()
