Even as a non-cat person, I have to say that is pretty cute. What a patient pet owner!

Actually, it is also pretty interesting watching the person practice for the tea ceremony. I recognized the dropping of the chasen onto the rim of the chawan in order to get a nice sound. Apparently not all that easy to do without practice.

Speaking of patient, Chip and I have been hand feeding through an eye dropper, a 5 week old 'tuxedo' kitten that was found mauled outside of our greenhouse

Our vet gave Fuji, yeah we named her/him, a very poor prognosis based on the severity of the injuries and 'her' age. Less than a 25% chance to live.

This was due to the fact that 'she' has an upper crushed jaw and nostrils, large gash below 'her' one eye, not to mention that the roof of 'her' mouth has a horizontal split from one side to the other. Other than that, 'she' is appears to be okay. Oh and no upper teeth in that mangled jaw and very weepy eyes since the tear ducts are no longer open. {We could have named her monster or similar since 'she' definitely has a face only a parent can love! With her pushed in face she kinda reminds me of a bat.}

It is believed she was bitten through the face possibly by a tomcat, although they normally bite to kill. Anyway, 'she' is a new resident in our large walk-in closet that has served for a 'cat' hospital more than one kitty.

It has been 2 weeks since she was found and I am happy to say that the vet has changed his prognosis, although Fuji is still not out of the woods. She is now eating like a trooper and running and playing as she ventures further out into the world of the closet. BTW, this closet was a small room we converted, so it has a window and she is not in the dark.

Once we solve our camera issues, we will post some pictures.

Glad to hear Fuji is thriving under the TLC of the TeaCave Cat-Care Specialists.

This thread also reminded me that I never updated on Sophie... who I am happy to report, has fully recovered from distemper! She's currently in charge of the household of my brother and his family... and my brother, who was a bit grumpy that we brought a dog home, now adores her, and she is totally "his dog"!

I will keep Fujikitty in my thoughts.

Thanks Victoria. I feel it was meant to be that she was found. My vet said that "Mother Nature" can do strange things, I believe Fuji will heal and continue to be a very special blessing.

Fuji update! He is doing well, at his last Dr. visit he had gained a little over 8 ounces and his prognosis has drastically improved. The wound on the roof of his mouth is practically healed, although we are still feeding him from an eyedropper. Since he is now running around, he has quickly established himself as 'king of the hill' among the Cat Clan here!

Kittens are sooo much fun to watch ... running, jumping, skipping, rolling, hopping and just aerobatic moves in general.

Again, hopefully pictures to soon follow, he is looking more like a vampire everyday.
Perhaps should have named him Lestat!

Thanks AdamMY, he is truly a miracle and as Chip can attest a helllion and rules the roost at our home, bossing all the other cats around!!!

He demands attention and of course gets it to boot!!! He is doing super well and can now climb steps, sofas, chairs, and legs as well ... hehe.
Just over the weekend he finally mastered sucking out of a bottle since the roof of his mouth is healed. Yea, no more eyedropper. He has a Dr. appt on Thursday, new update then.

Update on Fuji ... great bill of health, almost weighs 2lbs and doc said to try to get him to eat mushy solid foods. Should be fun w/only a few bottom teeth, altho' it is possible some are coming in on the deformed upper jaw. We will just have to wait and see if they come in at all, or all crooked!

But Lil' Bit seems to have what is called Hyperesthesia. Something we can try to ease the symptoms, but not curable, poor boy. Lil' Bit weighs in at 17lbs, is 3 yrs old and had the body type of a groundhog complete w/short legs and wide body.
He will be going on a diet as weight loss might help the situation. We hope so.

Mrs. Chip--I'm so happy about Fuji's recovery. My friend has only lower teeth due to bone cancer (long since recovered) in her upper jaw. She does just fine, just needs to stay away from hard foods. Cats are even more adaptable than people.

My little squeaker is Sneakers, 15, super affectionate and loving.
