My New TeaPot
Just got a new zisha teapot for Pu-Er. The artist is Shen Chai Er.
Edit: I managed to get pictures of both sides and the base with the seal. Hope you all enjoy the pics of the teapot.

Light is better on a high overcast day. You've got LOTSA those!![]()
Ok, so I finally made it home during daylight hours, and took some pictures of my teaware. The light was just perfect
I got this teapot from a local Chinese tea shop--very smooth clay, 125ml. I use it mostly for shu pu-erh. I don't drink enough sheng yet, but I have a feeling that if I hang around this forum a lot, this will change soon

I got this monster of a Yixing in China (it's whopping 270ml!) At the time (last November) I knew even less about oolongs than I know now, and I'm still upset with myself for not finding this forum sooner... The pot is not bad, though-smooth clay with a good 'ping', no drips, good pour. I'm using it mostly for TGY (for a crowd)

Here's the bottom of the pot:

I have some other toys coming, so stay tuned

Swotz, where did you get the pot? It's gorgeous!swozt wrote:Just got a new zisha teapot for Pu-Er. The artist is Shen Chai Er

Thanks for the compliment. I got it from Cozy Teahouse in Macau who has direct contacts with some of the teapot artist.
I was just admiring your teapot in your first picture. That is a nice picture of a very nice teapot. Hopefully after some months of use, my teapot will have a patina as nice as yours.
I have another Xishi teapot stored at the shop, I am sure that will drive the ladies wild with desire.
Re: My New TeaPot
Thanks! The pot is actually of the cheap variety (cost me under $30), but I liked the simple shape, and it was surprisingly smooth... The patina shows much better in photos than in real life (I photographed it on a shiny table)... Looking at the pictures of it, I'm thinking it's not that badswozt wrote:

I'm overcome with desire already. I'd run to Macau for a nice potswozt wrote:I have another Xishi teapot stored at the shop, I am sure that will drive the ladies wild with desire.

I like the way you photographed your pot in the first picture. Very good lighting and composition.
Yeah, if you do come to Macau, you must check out Cozy Teahouse. Then you can pop by Hong Kong to visit other tea houses. Darwin recommended me a couple of shops that are worth checking out.

So I was in Japantown today getting some ramen, and I thought i'd go to the dish shop (thats what I like to call it anyway) and see what they had in the relm of kyusu. I had my heart set on the tokoname kenji teapot that I've seen in other posts and websites, so I figured I wouldn't find anything that came remotely close to that teapot.
And in truth, I didn't find anything that came close to the tokoname kenji.
What I did find though....

was the tokoname kenji kyusu that I was looking for.
best end of the week i've had in a long time!

Thanks! While i've drank tea and collected tea for quite a while I haven't really stepped into the teaware relm until a couple weeks ago (but I decided to start it off right and I saw that particular tokoname and fell in love instantly and had to have it) so I'm not quite sure the type of screen it has. I believe its a clay screen but not sure on the screen size, maybe i'll take more pics of it later. As for how much, I haven't used it yet for any tea, but it cost 135 (that includes tax). It was a little much, but it didn't really matter since it was a matter of convenience and I had a pretty stressful work week anyway!Chip wrote:Hi lurking emeraldrobot! Welcome to the forum.![]()
No fair being able to shop Japantown and make a find like the Kenji I also own!
It is likely my fave Tokoname currently. In fact, I love it so much, I found another Kenji!
What kind of screen does it have, and I have to ask, how much? Details, man!
