Not sure if this is in good form or not--but would it be possible for your father to copy a particular style of pot from another yixing artist? There is one pot I've loved for a long time, but sadly I have no way of contacting the original artist anymore to buy it. I'd definitely be interested in the possibility of commissioning a similar pot, if that is something your workshop would be able to do ....
Here's the link to the pot I was interested in:

I hope it isn't bad form to ask an artist to copy another's design--if so, then I apologize!

Sadly, it isn't--that shop has been 'on vacation' for over a year. I even took the liberty of PMing Chinesepottery through Teachat, but apparently since his move away from Yixing, he is no longer selling his father-in-law's work.

It's OK with what you asked.

We don't mind that. But I'm sorry we don't copy other artist's design if it is Mr Xu's special design. We have to make that teapot with his permision. It is a different issue if the teapot is not patent, like many traditional teapots.
But if you can contact the owner or the maker, then I'd love to help. I mean I can help withthe shipping the of teapot.

The artist is apparently XuJianQing--but I no longer have a way of finding/contacting him.

Thank you for your reply, though--I guess I shall just have to keep admiring his work from afar!

I finally found some left zodiac teapots, and took some pictures. Here they are. They are cut but I think they are too big for gong fu tea. In fact, I noticed that people in China use larger teapots than 100 ml even for gong fu tea.
