You are 100% right...but sometimes you can fluke it. It happened to me with one pot, bought another one made with identical clay, same maker fang gu type of pot and not an issue. I won't try again knowing how expensive these teas are (the ones from JTS), I can't imagine buying the ones that sell for $1000USD/100g and testing them blindly in a random Yixing pot.
