ok....so that comes out to a minimum of roughly $50/ounce. And yet on your website you are selling one for $25/oz and one for $42/oz for a spring harvest old bush (if the old bush is not 'premium' pls define what you mean by premium....?). Are these not premium tgy? Those prices you quoted seem awfully high...

Hi Churng.
Just Pm you about your questions. Do you live in Asia or the States? T

How is this years?
Quite great actually, it's very durable leaf lots of mineral aftertaste. The typical floral aroma/flavor notes of baozhong are not near as intense. Say like the competition style from FL 2011 spring or 2010 winter 2nd place from FL. Instead is has a smoother refined deeper tones, lots of lingering mineral taste, subtle floral tones linger in the background. Very refined and elegant for a baozhong. I also notice the rinse was not at all that much foamy/slime-ish.

Today I had some Jin Xuan from FL. Wow I was very surprised by this one. It has so much strong mineral taste and leaf was extremely durable, even at the end the brews had great balanced flavor. Smooth, sweet, slightly creamy, subtle crisp complex rustic tones. I like good teas like this with character. I think the long stems really add the complex sweet rustic tones.

Been drinking down at the pub tonight

A couple of regulars challenged me to introduce them to 'Real' Chinese Tea.

2 Heavy bags packed with 9 Teapots, 12 teas, countless accessories, Tea Boat, Kamjove and Brita Filter.

1st Hour
Wan Ling UK - Can Sai Jin Pin Guan Yin Wang (Spring 2009)
Rich Barbarian - Anxi TGY (Summer 2008 Supreme+)

2nd Hour
Imen's 2007 Por Tou
Imen's 2008 Jing Hua

3rd Hour
Bei Dou Yi Hao purchased in January from the Chinaman's Shop in Kuala Lumpur Chinatown
2010 Handmade Bai Ji Guan from Nada

3 Children said they had never had tea without sugar before :(
4 people moved away from the table after at first seeming interested in trying it :?
3 people changed their minds about trying it when I was explaining the effects of drinking a lot of caffeine late at night, or drinking a lot of tea on an empty stomach - not even 1 cup

That still left 8 seriously trying it
2 preferred the 2 (greener) TGY
3 preferred the fragrant DC
2 preferred the Yan Cha
1 LOVED them all, but especially the DC and Yan Cha

I learned during an interval that the shy 4 some were scared to try it when they saw the prices on Imen's packets - 1 for $48 for 1oz and the Jing Hua at $58 for 1oz

During a later interval, a 19 year old wanted me to do it again when his Mother could come - she runs an alternative therapy business from an extension they have had built and currently serves bagged 'holistic ayurvedic tea'
She does Shiatsu Massage  - Now if she can fix my shoulders in exchange for Chinese Tea

The 1 who loved them all - has received emails from me so that he can order some straight away - I pointed him at DTH and Zen8Tea to get him some basic teaware.

But he says money is no object So I sent him links to ChinesePottery and Shouzhen if he does not want to hang about before spending his money.
He is so eager he cannot wait for a shipment from China, or Los Angeles, so he is ordering from Jing UK and Nada - my last orders from each arrived next day

2010 Xia Men Shui xian - Easy to drink. Nice aroma. Cheap casual tea but value for money.

Many teas of this brand are sold cheaper in America and Malaysia than they are in China  I guess it's still the aftermath of mass export era when China was desperate to export things for floor bottom price to get international currency. It is indeed a brand of good value.

2011 of that yellow tin is MYR15 (USD 5.4). So is Malaysia cheaper or America cheaper?

I am drinking some Tie Luohan. It is a Wuyi Yancha. I love it. It has such a robust flavor.

+1

Me Too, it has got to be my favorite varietal :D

I have tried about 8 different vendors, and all have been good. There seem to be so many TLH's available, I wonder how many clones have been taken over the years and where they have been planted.

I doubt if most of mine have been Ban Yan Cha let alone Zheng Yan Cha but they have all been good.

It is a shame more vendors don't provide bush location and bush age :(
