2010 Winter Song Po from Hou De -
The brewed leaves of this tea had the fragrance of lilacs. It's in the flavor as well...for the first couple of brews. This is a mellower oolong...subtle and nuanced. Unique compared to other balled oolongs I have tried. At about the fourth brew it begins to resemble a dan cong....a lot. Quite floral but has some interesting flavors that keep me engaged.

Competition Shui Xian from Jing Tea Shop--a tea that sat a long time waiting its day in the sun, patiently, delightfully mellow and deep. Mmm...

Tsou Ma Fei spring alishan oolong from Norbu, mmmm....deep, floral, sweet, spicy.

Mid 90s aged feng huang dancong from hou de. It is absolutely delicious. Fruity and aromatic. There is something to be said about aged oolongs!

Lightly herbal and grassy in the first few brews. A floral hint and some eggy-ness about it with cassia showing up in later infusions. Nice mouthfeel. Layered and lasting finish. Good stuff.

I'm having a "silky oolong" which I think might be the same as a "milk oolong", from a local shop.
This is spectacular. The taste has wonderful sweet lemony overtones, while also being distinctly "flowery". I think I'm in love with this tea.

Similar thing going on here in Thailand with mangos. Normally at this time of year, you can buy 1kg of mangos for $1.50. Now, you see them selling for $4.70/kg. I asked why. They told me the mangos are being exported for more money than they can get in Thailand! This is sad for me as I am very fond of mangos.gingkoseto wrote:Many teas of this brand are sold cheaper in America and Malaysia than they are in Chinaauhckw wrote:2010 Xia Men Shui xian - Easy to drink. Nice aroma. Cheap casual tea but value for money.I guess it's still the aftermath of mass export era when China was desperate to export things for floor bottom price to get international currency. It is indeed a brand of good value.

15g in 150ml gaiwan.
Excellent balance of roast and flavor. A bit of a challenge with the extra leaf (for larger group than normal.) Got it dialed in about brew 4-5. Really can play with the flavors in this tea. Fun finding a good middle point.
Going back to it tomorrow a.m.

mmm...brew #1 of day two of teas like these are always the best! (+- 30 sec at 190-5 F.) Rich toasty round balanced flavor.

From a cutting taken over 100 years ago and planted on the crag known as Niu Lan Keng.
Not as complex as the Mother Tree, but exceptionally rounded, smooth and mellow! Just what I am in the mood for right now, something requiring more cerebral attention would be wasted.
A leak under the kitchen sink required me to turn all water off at the mains, when I awoke this morning
No Bath, No Toilet, No Laundry and NO TEA
for 10 hours
But a plumber friend has just sorted me out and all water is back on
Including Tea

Just woke up some Song Zhong dan cong from Tea Habitat. Mmmm. After 5 infusions last night, the tea is still fantastic.

20 year old aged oolong
No great finesse or punch to it - - -

No individual flavours leaping ot separately - - -

No great body - - -
