I was, too, to an extent. I just couldn't get a good shot of it, there was not enough light that day. But that balcony rail is broader than it looks.blairswhitaker wrote:sriacha that pick of a chawan on a rail or whatever makes me nervous talk about some tension in that shot. I did upload a few more pics here

Re: Today's MatchaWan :D (new name, but tea's the same)
Took a mid-afternoon break today for a little creek-side matcha. It was a beautiful day here, ahhh life is good.

I acquired this chawan about a year ago at local Empty Bowls event. For those of you who are not familiar, potters donate bowls which are then sold with a lite meal of soup and bread. All proceeds go to our local food bank. I was lucky enough to stumble on this chawan, which I believe is salt-fired, possibly soda. It's kind of hard to tell. Bowls donated are left anonymous without a signature, so I don't know who the maker is. I assume it was made by one of our Grad. students at Syracuse University.

SLURP..........my brain tickles

Looks especially delicious with the streaks of matcha in the bottom.

A charming bowl in a beautiful setting!
Wish I could enjoy my matcha outdoors, too. Someday!

Gorgeous!
I particularly like the full bowl shot with that wonderful foam glowing in the sunlight.
What a setting - awesome!

Wow, very lovely! Ray Morales has really been producing some unique and gorgeous glazes lately, I have to admit--I have three of his pieces already, and am contemplating another. Love the foot on this piece--the glaze looks like surf rolling up on the beach ....

that I am NOT going to buy. Very hard to keep that resolve, though.

So now you're hoping someone might solve this for you, right?

Even though the setup is Product Photography 101 the photos on his site make all his stuff look great.
