No problem I do have to say though that my favorite might have to be the first little pear skin. Are those Tiao Sha with sand added or just pure Zhu Ni?

kingslam, I don't know about yixing except I use yixing pots & like the results; nonetheless, I do have something intelligent to say about your collection:

What a great Christmas Eve present, to wake up and see such a huge collection of pots. Thanks so much for sharing! I wish I had a better level of knowledge to appreciate the deeper parts of your collection, but at a basic level, I really like the flat-top one (just below the tea caddy).... looks like it has a nice wide opening into which to place leaves, too.

A very rare Grape Purple Sand. 1970's SP. 1st show by High Mountain Anxi Xiping Tikwanyin Yancha.


After first use. I hope to document the patina changes if anyone is interested

2nd use ended 12/13/2012. Morning winter light at 7am.

3rd Session, with 2012 High Fired TiKwanYin. The grape color is developing nicely. Happy Holidays!

Besides they state the following:

"Nei Zi Wai Hong" pot is very popular back in the 70's and 80's. During that time, the demand for zhuni is very high but the clay are limited, and zhuni shrink a lot when fired so it is not cost effective. Finally Yixing came out with an idea to make the pot using zini and then grind the zhuni as fine as powder and mix it with water then paint it or dip the pot in it so that the outer part of the zini pot is fully cover with zhuni and then fired. This kind of pot is call "Nei Zi Wai Hong" which looks like zhuni but cheaper than whole piece of zhuni."

I would add to that: And decide to start a production of wheel-thrown pots as a result of having developed a new strategy of cost reduction.

zini + zhu ni + wheel-throwing clearly reflects that new policy.

I wouldn't hold my breath for that sort of quality. $130 for that pot is a rip-off.

Info: Flower Pot is not may usual favor, unless its well balance and not over decorated. Each details should have a reason of existent and should company the other elements. I think this mass production old pot do show the traditional quality of old world charm. My kind of Christmas tree for the season. Cheers ~ T

I am so glad that you agree Tim that this is great Hong Ni because I personally believe that sample tea has some of the best Hong Ni for the price of anywhere on the Internet (that is if you don't mind the medium fired which is the usual for their Hong Ni selections) and especially considering I have heard others say they don't like it very much because it smells funny (which is gone after one boiling session by the way). Some of the best Hong Ni I've found (lots of rounding while still maintaining a large percentage of aroma). I've bought about 6 Hong Ni's from them and Mao Mei Zhen seems to have the best craftsmanship of the Shui Ping series!

Yes this clay did have a strong odor at first, not chemical or anything like that, just clay and storage smell, a very good boil in some tea water took care of it no problem.

I do STRONGLY believe the pot I purchased is the yixing pot made in factory no 5 as advertised. As a potter myself I can assure you my pot was made using hand building techniques. I can't vouch for those "make up" clay pots I personally have no interest in them. However the pot I ordered suites my needs quite well.
