Its a bit of both for me. Sometimes I leave tea behind and other times I plan ahead and even ask others with me what kinds they would like me to bring so they can try some. On backpacking trips I always bring a few teabags along so I can make some old fashion tea over the fire, no lapsang needed for smokey smell here

Depravitea, you might try some t-sacs. They are filter bags that are fairly large (they actually sell different sizes) and you can put your loose leaf in them and use like a tea bag. Then you could get some hot water from the dining car to make your tea. I got mine from strandtea.com, but amazon.com and teasource.com sell them too.

I have not missed a single day of tea since September '08! That's when I jumped into a kyusu and haven't looked back.
Tea travels with us wherever we go, even out to dinner... so obviously Tea + Teaware on vacation!
Delightful brew of YM ala O-Cha this am w/DH on our TeaRoom Lotus Pad Table. Awesome!!!
Next

Waiting on the decision maker.
Have a TEArrific TeaDay everyone and enjoy drinking tea this holiday weekend.

My trip kit: unbreakable mug. Small, tightly-lidded tin plus scoop, Mini-Minute filters, pick. Small electric cup warmer.
You can buy 1000 mini-minute filters from CoffeeAM ($30) or 10 or 40-packs from other online vendors. Large box comes with oodles of picks (thread thru holes on filter top, lays across mug to support filter in teacup.
I used these at work when my teapot disappeared. Great for travel.
Four Seasons Oolong in my cup.

I hardly ever miss a day of tea, In fact, I cannot remember the last day, but I think it has been years. Vacations always include bringing tea and some type of teaware. The biggest problem usually is the water, trying to get gooood and hot water in a setting conducive to enjoying tea. Not very easy.
I usually pack around 3-5 relatively easy brewing teas, and something to brew in. If I remember, a timer and thermometer. I try to do w/o a scale ... really roughing it.

Taking a little trip to Prague later this month, not bringing tea. Taking a chance that they have booths with perfectly brewed Silver Needle on every streetcorner in the Czech Republic. I certainly can't think of any reason why they shouldn't.

Sounds GOOD, I went for this on a short time ago. Brewed it a bit differently for some unknown reason, still came out very good. I don't think I had a bad steep out of this bag yet.

What fun!
I'm actually on vacation right now on my favorite island, Sanibel!
Yes, I brought tea! I brought my little Den's teapot and my O-cha fuka sincha.
And I brought a selection of black teas...I ordered a personaliTea teapot from Adagio before leaving to be delivered here (so I'm "making do till it gets here"). I bought a silver bullet thermos for taking tea with me to breakfast (it already got lost

or as I prefer to think of it, some lucky person has a new thermos).
And I brought matcha and my travel whisk.
Today's tea so far...my own personal mix of Assam and Ceylon Lumbini...hot early and iced now.
To all the American Teachatters, Have a great 4th tomorrow. I'll be riding a Segway in the parade here. Stay cool!
Have fun, All,
Dreamer

I'll give that a shot, I was under the impression that tea couldn't expand well in those. I'll just look for some fairly large ones.
Thanks!
