My favorite teawares are from Japan but my interest for Japanese culture is much broader.

My interest in history and culture is much broader than national/regionally popular teaware.

Almond Blossom Oolong in my cup for starters. Gonna be hot here the next few days.

Have a good tea day!

Definitely. Where my favorite teaware comes from also coincides with my favorite tea country/region - China. I love my gaiwan, and that drove me to look into the history and origin of them. It's amazing how long the gaiwan has been in use - The Ming Dynasty (1368 to 1644.) There are some really excellent, old gaiwans, I'd like to eventually save enough to get one. Some of them have paintings on them are really beautiful and intricate. Of course, like with anything else, I'm sure there are poorly made ones as well.

I've been looking around online for an older gaiwan, and I was surprised to find a clear glass gaiwan (definitely modern.) It would be cool to watch "The Agony of the Leaves" but I'm betting it cools down rather quickly. Anyone have any experience with the clear glass giawan?

I keep meaning to look up where exactly the Yunnan region of China is, but that's about the extent of my interest.

Irish breakfast tea in my pot this morning.

Here you go Riene :)
I was just looking this up as well, pretty interesting stuff -

Virago, I'm familiar with Lapsang Souchong, but what's Lapsung Souchong? I now you said China Black, but what's it like?

I am an obsessive learner when it comes to everything concerning tea so the polls have all been yes's for me lately. Drinking Twinings Darjeeling at work right now.

Maybe? I've got a general interest in history.

Just got an order in from Den's this morning, so I'm happy. I'm excited to try mugicha for the first time.

Absolutely. It is integral to my continuing education about ceramic creation as well as my noobie love of tea.

Maybe. I haven't thought about it that way since I'd read about anything that takes my fancy and can get virtually lost in Wikipedia for example...I remember reading for two days about interpreting NGE from a Kabbalah perspective(with related topics). Or Japanese food. Or blood groups. Or-well, you get it.

One little piece of information leads to another. Sometimes it's to do with teaware, I just don't go out of my way to find it.

Today's been sort of a bad day for tea, just some Yunnan at work. A cup of reasonably good TGY with my dinner. I'll fix another cup now.

The homes of fave teawares seem rather mysterious or veiled to me, thus I am even more curious ... Tokoname, Hagi, Yixing, etc. I would love to know much more, and without all the ambiguity that exists today, though it is getting better.

Began the TD with Yutaka Midori from O-Cha, very good as always. SweeTea certainly likes YM while Pyrit, Gandalf, and Katie were not too interested.

Contemplating what new tea to take out of cold storage.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

having a two cups of FF darjeeling risheehat 09, one with milk and sugar, one alone! sooooo good. Hate that I only have enough left for about two more days :( Going to have either my yellow stuff, or some green stuff next!

BTW love that glass gaiwan...

Neat, depravitea, thanks!
Although my neighbors are all barbarians,
And you, you are a thousand miles away,
There are always two cups on my table.
