Although I do revisit the past on rare occasions I try and stay away as it was the good old lipton tea bags that my family used growing up with milk and sugar. It was made in classic Indian style without the spices as regular chai would have. Now however, my parents have since evolved but what I really think happened is they were sick of Lipton as a cheaper alternative and when making their regular trek to India they bring back the good stuff with the spices in all it's glory. Of course milk and sugar are still used as they should be for the traditonal effect. Sometimes however, the Lipton makes it back into rotation when either supplies are low or if my mother in-law is visiting me at my place.

Well yeah, I revisit my tea roots regularly. That would be English-style brewing of quality India and China black teas for breakfast and midmorning tea breaks, with the occasional afternoon blend.
I'm having a pot of Murchies famous No. 10 Blend prepared and served in my favorite Staffordshire hand-painted bone china.

I grew up drinking Earl Grey with my father. We pretty much used whatever bags were on sale at the grocery store and brewed it long and strong. Though I still surprisingly enjoy Earl Grey, I much prefer the loose leaf over the icky, over steeped bags. So yes, I revisit my tea roots in terms of type, but not of quality.
Currently in my cup is iced tea to hold me over until we get back from taking one of the dogs to obedience school.

I would revisit Lipton or other bags if I were somewhere away from home and didn't have any other choice. But other than that, I don't plan on going back to bags anytime soon! (although I occasionally use Red Rose to make iced tea when I'm feeling lazy)
Had some Fujian Baroque this morning, not sure yet what my evening tea will be.

Not sure how to answer this one.
I liked to drink tea made from Lipton bags with sweetener. Got away from it but I missed a warm drink. Found matcha, which I LOVE, which I consider to be the beginning of my real Tea Journey.
Sooooo, I absolutely avoid tea bags if I'm making tea. My tea buddy at work uses them about half the time (the other half she fills a bag with loose leaf), but we don't drink Lipton.
Or maybe I could consider that every time I have matcha I'm going back...
This is too hard...maybe a bowl of matcha will clear it right up...
Today in my cup...Vithanakande early and matcha coming right up!
Happy TeaDay,

88 Nights from Sugimoto earlier.
And currently Fuding Silver Needle Organic from Rishi with DW. This is great SN!!!
I never had teas like these 10 years ago, in fact for the most part they were "unobtainium."

Tea roots, eh? Hmmm I don't think so. My roots started at Te****a
but I try to forget that...

Re: Tuesday TeaDay 8/11/09 Back to your TeaFuture?
I suppose my roots were in Tetley teabags with milk and sugar. My kid brother used to spoon in sugar until the liquor became saturated and then he added three more spoons. Good riddance to those days.
More Jing's Shui Xian this morning, with O-Cha asamushi in the afternoon and Takumi as a pick-me-up after supper. Hibiki-an Tencha arrived today, but I don't know when I'll have time to taste it.

I am so sick of Bigelow bagged Earl Grey.
I haven't touched it in over a year, just the thought of it makes me ill.
I can't even drink Earl Grey anymore because I have just completely burned out on it.
I was grateful for it when I had it (and didn't know any better) but now I'm never going back.

I guess roots for me would be good old Twinings' Earl Grey. Loose, thank god my folks were never into tea bags(or perhaps they realized loose tea works out cheaper per gram ^^).
I've had several extensive periods over the years when that was the only tea for me, nothing else would do. They may come again, who knows?

Intuit, I would love to come join you for tea today. Murchie's #10 Blend was one of my favorites.Intuit wrote:Well yeah, I revisit my tea roots regularly.
