Thanks so much! A friend of mine who is a stained glass artist just gave me 4 large boxes of all of her scraps of glass...The most beautiful colors to work with!!! I cannot wait to start playing...every color imaginable!

Yes I do pastel colors, some of my other forms that are currently in my shop are in some of my lighter glaze combinations...I seem to be drawn to earthtones and turquoise though....

Wondering about possible lead in the glass?
If recycled, how can one know?

I think she generally uses recycled bottle glass, not leaded crystal.

That may be the case GG, but I had a very reputable ceramicist warn me about a chawan I shared a photo of that had a glass bottom/chadamari (not made by any of the artisans on this board) - the ceramicist wanted me to know that some artists will use glass marbles to form those "pools" and that some marbles contain dangerous amounts of lead. The ceramicist suggested I might consider contacting the artist who made the chawan and finding out.
So, that made an impression on me, and this led me to wonder about other "cheap/inexpensive/less trackable" glass sources - and what they might contain, how they might have been colored etc.
Thus my question.
I'm pretty sure we don't want to be messin' with lead, at least I don't.

Does anyone/any artist know if lead is ever used in bottle making or whether one should be concerned about 'recycled glass'?

Also - how can one tell if that gorgeous "glass pool" chadamari is transformed ash or glass added to the piece and fired? Are there telltale signs?
