Re: Close-Up on Brick Tea (Tuo Cha)
The downside to the puerh art slabs and chess sets is the tea used to make them is not so good to drink.

Well think about it, they can use the cheap stuff that they couldn't otherwise sell, stick it in one of these artistic presses, and sell it as home decor for huge gobs of money, who'd drink it, unless you were trapped in a Mexican sink-hole with no other source of tea? And where did you see chess sets?

All the descriptions I have seen refer to it as "Chinese Chess." I have no idea what that means.Victoria wrote:Wow, pretty cool!! But aren't those checkers???
Re: Close-Up on Brick Tea (Tuo Cha)
"Old World/Cost Plus retail chains has reported a sudden and mysterious fanatical sellout on their formerly poorly selling Chinese brick tea. Sales managers reported customers camped out in tents and sleeping bags, waiting in droves for the doors to open. The brick tea was selling so well, regional management put an item limit of 3 per customer, after store cameras showed crazed-looking clients wheeling out shopping carts of this unusual product."
I can see it now...lurking with the dust bunnies at the back of pu storage closets everywhere...dusty Chinese brick tea bars stacked for aging...

Interesting.... I always took Chinese Checkers to be this game here, even though it didn't originate from China.
The board and pieces almost make it look a *little* bit like Shogi, but not exactly.
Hrm, I wonder what other forms tea has been pressed into?
(I'll admit, I was looking forward to seeing a knight chess piece in tea...)
