Speaking of food and tea, I'm drinking a cup of Hibiki-an's Tencha right now. It smells like slightly charred filet of beef with sauteed asparagus and potatoe. The scent isn't of the beef itself, but only of the charred sizzle. This is tea with a paradoxical scent.

I don't think so...
I kinda have a hard time eating more than 1200 calories or so a day with or without tea.

I have no idea, but I don't think tea makes me eat less. This morning (so far) in my cup: coffee.
Hubby made coffee for me, who am I to turn it down!

It definitely has an effect when I'm home. I do many times forget to eat. Like yesterday at about 4:00 I realized all I had to eat all day was a breakfast bar. However this is NOT true when at work!!
Started the morning with ToT Neela. In my cup this afternoon just some generic iced I picked up while out to lunch. Really hot here today.

Most likely. But then again, I tend to forget to eat unless I schedule it or purposely make myself take a break for food. I've been getting better with that, but I still have a tendency to pay more attention to making my tea in the morning than figuring out what I should eat for breakfast.
Currently in my cup is Canadian Breakfast tea. It is strong and flavorful and will definitely work well first thing in the morning. It just needed a test brew tonight to try it out.

Definitely eating less, especially in the evening after I've made my cuppa sencha. The appetite seems to float away and I really don't mind skipping dinner - perhaps a slice of cantelope and some fresh strawberries or Bing cherries, but no real interest in a meal as such after several infusions of sencha.
Got my matcha today so will be trying that out this week. A little nervous though I see there's lots of good advice in the Green Tea thread.

It suppresses my appetite for a couple of hours. One thing that tea makes me is THIRSTY! About an hour after a tea session I feel parched and need to chug a lot of water.
Re: Monday TeaDay 8/24/09 Tea and Food?
It should work that way... because I seem to snack less when I am drinking more tea sessions. But, in general, I seem to keep my weight steady. I did have about a 10 lb loss when I converted to drinking mostly hot teas unsweetened as opposed to so much sweetened iced tea... but once I accomodated that change, my weight just leveled off and stays the same. So, I must eat just as much as ever.
In my cup this morning was Imperial Velvet Oolong... tasts like milk oolong but lighter. I don't know the vendor or the age as I got this in a sample trade, but it's really good. I'm sipping it still, but only alittle, as my main beverage tonight is Golightly. Blechhh.

Have a great day! However I fear it is hopeless now since it is already almost 2:00p.m., but I will see what I can do.
Tea acts more as a substitute for food for me, in the short term. But I still manage to get me fill of food it seems.
Good TD, but a lot of distractions today. Began the TD with Yutaka Midori from O-Cha, followed by a Keemun I have had around here for around 3 years with DW. Currently Makinohara from Rishi.
