Re: Saturday TeaDay 10/17/09 fave tea consumption?
Oolong takes up about 50% of my consumption. The rest is a good mix of everything else the tea world has to offer. I usually have a stead supply of samples coming in so luckily most of that doesn't come out of my tea budget

My favourites are Japanese greens which make up about 60% of my tea consumption. Black teas (often from Yunnan Province) and Chinese greens make up the other 40%.
All I've had today is chai tea from a vendor which is unusual for a Saturday. Usually I start off a Saturday with Long Jing but I had to race off first thing this morning, casting my normal routine into ruins.

Looks like I'm with the plurality here. Probably 70% of what I smack my lips over is green; most of the rest is oolong or white, with the odd cup of black, usually for breakfast on weekends. Funny how those percentages have basically reversed over the last five or six years... Chinese greens make up probably 75% of the green total; Japanese greens have been coming on strong the last year or so, but if I had to choose--wait, I don't have to choose.
Finishing up some Pi Lo Chun as I type, so I have an excuse to order something new. But what? Oh, the pain. Oh, the pleasure!

I'm in the minority here, I guess. My favorites are flavored black teas. Gasp! I know, not popular with most of you. But with my most recent order from Adagio I received a four tea sampler consisting of 2 oolongs: dancong aria, and huang jin bolero; a green: dongshan dolce; and a jasmine silver needle white. These were my first tastes of high quality, loose leaf teas, other than black. I loved each one! And I am really starting to appreciate the delicate qualities in these teas that flavored tea simply doesn't have. I especially loved the dancong aria!

Oolongs probably account for 60% of my tea consumption. Blacks, roasted Japanese greens, and everything else make up the difference.
Settling down after a busy day with some Ginseng Oolong from BirdPick.

green-40%
oolong-40%
black-10%
white-10%
Thats my estimation. Oolongs are my current fav. with green in close second and occasionally 1st. Oolongs are more expensive than greens so I drink less oolongs than I would like.
earl grey cream today.

The tea in the house is mostly black tea. There are a few tins of experimental white, oolong, and green around here, though.

Thanks! (:brlarson wrote:Congrats on your 1st TC Anniversary Drax!
I was going to do an oolong tasting set today but I had enough major interruptions in the daily schedule to stop it from happening. Ah well, maybe tomorrow... meanwhile, this huang shan mao feng is smooth all the way.

We love all our members here equally (I seem to remember my mom saying something like that!)Remember the TeaChat mantra, "drink the tea that you like, and like the tea that you drink". I like flavoured black tea as well and also enjoy many other teas! Never hesitate to let us know which flavoured black teas you like. If you don't let us know, you may be denying us the ultimate tea experience.....

Beckynoel, love your avatar, is it a redwood?

Thanks for the reassuring welcome guys! I will not be ashamed of my love of flavored teas. As far as I know, the tree is my avatar is just an oak, just shot from a perspective that makes it look intimidating, and the colors are tweaked a bit.

The tea I crave most is Japanese green, best savored in the afternoon, but it competes with "busy-ness" and other teas.
The tea I drink most is black tea...consistently every morning.
Hope everyone had a great Saturday!

Re: Saturday TeaDay 10/17/09 fave tea consumption?
I just started exploring oolong in the last 3-4 months. Before that my bias was definitely towards green tea. Lately my consumption has been about:
40% green Japanese
30% oolong
15% green Chinese
7.5% black (Keemun and Assam)
7.5% white
With my first waddings into the Puehr ocean in the next few months this breakdown will probably suffer some changes.
