Japanese greens are indeed my favorite teas but there is still some room for Keemun, Chinese greens and many other teas.
Kaboku sencha this evening.

Speaking of AliShan (From the Oolong Forum) I'm having a nice little cup from Seven Cups. Past its prime but still very tastey. This is called Alishan Gao Shan Cha. It's from 2008.
Re: Thursday TeaDay 12/03/09 TeaTypeFocus?
I started out focused on greens, pretty much all greens. However now I am slowly focusing in on Chinese greens.

I almost focus on one type (oolong) but other types blend in at different seasons. Spring and summer I have maybe 70% oolong + 30% green. Autumn and winnter I have maybe 90% oolong + 10% black. White, yellow and puerh are only very small percentage. I usually just buy green once every year and then little is left in autumn/winter. But last week my aunt gave me a can of dragonwell so more green this winter

I am rather acutely focused on greens at present, and have been for several years ... but you knew that already I am sure.
Began the TD with Hatsumi from O-Cha. SweeTea got her fair share while Pyrit and Wulong kept company. Next up, a tasting of Zuiko from Den's, delish.

I'm pretty focused on Chinese oolongs and Indian & Chinese blacks. Other tea is good too.
So far on this unseasonably warm day, I've had an Irish Breakfast blend and some Houjicha from Den's.

As I've already shared my tea focus, I thought I'd share what's in my cup today.
Started the TD w/ Wako matcha in the sculpted red shino by Cory Lum (see "This Morning's Matcha for a pic
).
Now I'm christening the Seigan Ice Split with some organic Ancient Moonlight White 2009, from Rishi.

a little gaiwan action:

Cheers.

I was presented with some Mariage Freres Marco Polo this past weekend. Do you know what I may expect from this tea? Thank you.Victoria wrote:In my cup this morning a very expensive (by way of duty and shipping fees) from Mariage Freres called Blue Himalayan. Hrumph! Drat, it's quite delicious though.

They have several teas called Marco Polo. I haven't tried any of them.artmom wrote:I was presented with some Mariage Freres Marco Polo this past weekend. Do you know what I may expect from this tea? I am pretty focused on he-cha (黑茶; black tea; dark tea), such as Pu-erh, Hunan Fu brick tea, and Guangdong beeng. Usually have Pu-erh in my cup. Sometimes drink Dian Hong and whatever tea friends offer.

Re: Thursday TeaDay 12/03/09 TeaTypeFocus?
Hrm, at the time of this posting, half of the voters focus solely or near solely on one type of tea. It's been interesting to read everybody's responses!
I think pu'erh is my long-term focus, and in the short term, I dabble elsewhere. Shhhh, don't let the pu know.

In the morning its always Japanese or Chinese greens. However, in the evening it can be Assam, Darjeeling, Yunnan black tea, Keenum, or Oolong. Thus, I believe I am multi-focused.
Oolong in the cup tonight.

I am still exploring all the different types of tea before I decide if I want to concentrate on any type(s). I started with Chinese Greens, then went on to Japanese Greens, and lately (last 8 months) have been also exploring the various kinds of oolong (Wuyi, Taiwanese high mountain, Anxi, Dancong) as well as Keemun. Next year I plan to start exploring Pu-Erh and Indian black teas.
I really don't if I could ever concentrate on just 1-2 types, I love many of these tea types very intensely.

I can't tell what kind of tea it is; it's all written in Japanese! My friend got it while he was home in Japan. I reckon I'll just open it up and see if I can figure out what it is. I'm terribly ignorant of any teas other than black teas!
Thank you for responding.
