Fun idea Chip!
(puts you into a bit of extra work tho :? ).
Hope this new year is finding everyone well and good.
Love the contest idea! Good luck to all!

Matcha this morning of course, followed by some Phoenix High Mountain Single Grove Honey Fragrance Oolong from Teance. Yummm.

Fun matcha pics on "Today's Matcha" thread (sort of silly and playful today) - then my batteries died, and I'm all out of batteries! :(

Cheers everyone.

ps - package just arrived from Den's! Hmmm, let's see... matcha miyabi, organic matcha, 2 green kukicha, & genmaicha satsuki. Should be fun!

Great tea day, Had Two bowls of matcha this morning, had one, then 20 minutes later the doorbell rings and its my package, and as new tea to me is like Christmas morning for a kid, I opened up one of the matcha-s and made a second bowl. Then as Express packages are delivered at a different time then regular mail for us during the holiday season, I went out later that after noon to find a box of samples from someone else, so I opened it up and started brewing, as it was time for tea again. This picture resulted from the inspiration, I don't think the matcha had fully worn off, I was feeling good and creative.

Thanks as always for coloring our TD, Adam. Actually lots of photos across the entire forum today.

Lots of great posts across the forum to consider for the "Post of the Day." It will be hard choosing. The prize, HA, never cleared the prize idea with Adagio (it was truly impromptu from a seed planted by DW), so, I might be "fired" come Monday.   So, it was nice knowing everyone.

Great TD as always, but the one downside ... only 2 teas and I am feeling the cravings for a third. So, began the TD with a tasting of Den's Yame Fukamushi followed by a blend of dribs and drabs ... literally TeaDust from the bottoms of several tins including Hatsumi, Oku Yutaka, and Yutaka Midori with DW. Actually turned out very good.

I hope everyone had a great TD .....

TomVerlain wrote:It was a dark and stormy night; the rain fell in torrents, except at occasional intervals, when it was checked by a violent gust of wind which swept up the streets, rattling along the housetops, and fiercely agitating the scanty flame of the lamps that struggled against the darkness, and I put the kettle on, waiting for the telltale sign, the whistle, to ready the cup and saucer for my morning cuppa, an aged pu'erh, which, having traveled halfway across the world from the misty mountain in china where the ancient tea tree, gnarled and bent, produced the leaves so long ago plucked and stored, through perilous journeys on the south china sea, to me, to my table, to the pot, to the cup, to my mouth, to taste, this day.
Just then, a knock at the door...hopefully, the UPS guy bringing more tea.

Wonderful TD today. Good teas and good friends.

My family met with a friend and his family in a bubble tea (tapioca pearls tea) shop who are in town for a visit. Four of us finished about 2.5 liters of teas (2 Shu Pu's and Fu Cha) in 3 thermos. My friend also picked up 2 Shu Pu cakes that I ordered for him. I am sure he will enjoy those two cakes. We chatted about Pu-erh and shared our brewing and tea drinking experiences. What a great tea chat. :D

cool yunomi! I haven't seen one like that before. But how do you drink from it? On a corner? or the flat side? Hmmm... :?

Looks like "spouts" on at least 2 of the sides? Still, crazy Yunomi, Seeker. Thanks for sharing this rather unconventional piece. Could you rate the function on a scale of 1-10 versus a conventional rounded Yunomi? Who made this btw?

Thanks ...

The yunomi is by Milo Hoost, from the Berkeley, Ca. area (I got it at my teashop of choice, Teance; they said they were beginning to focus on local artist's wares in addition to the items from China; my apologies for not naming the artist previously, I didn't know! :o ; so seeing these posts, I called and found out, rectifying my lapse).
Here are addt'l pics:

When I last visited Teance, this yunomi found my gaze almost immediately; I was very drawn to it. It feels exquisite in hand, and at lip. And it has a wonderful heft (not too much, not too little). And I really like that I can drink boiling hot puerh and my fingers are just as comfy as they can be. :D

edit - almost forgot - drinking from the corners is disturbing. This yunomi likes to be met at the rounded edges on the "straight" sides. And from those places, mmmm, very nice lip feel. Puuurrrrfect. :)

A adagio $25 GC would be great!

My tea for dec would be pu erh.
I met someone on tea chat who became a very good friend of mine.
We chat and talk about all tyes of teas and how we are 12 hours a part from each other. Oldmanteapot lives in malaysia and I live in florida.
My friend eric sent me all types of pu erh, that opened up my mind and tastebuds for pu. If it was not for tea chat we would never have met.

thank you adagio and chip

yours in tea
woodie
