You'll find this map useful. Click on the map to get a version with links for some of the areas (a couple of those links are broken).

So is Simao a prefecture or a district in Puerh Prefecture?
I read how China has changed the administrative borders and re-classified areas through the 20th Century.
In 2007 Simao was given the name Puer. I understand now that 思茅市 and 思茅地区 (Simao city and Simao district/prefecture) are now called 普洱市 - Puer City. The original Puer which had it's name taken away and given to Simao is now called Ninger. It looks like Ninger is now considered a county within the Puer City area.

Of course, most people and lots of maps continue to refer to the older names. So, yes, a little confusing...

I hope I've got this right!

pb2q.

It's rather sketchy and not 100% accurate, but it will give an idea of some 'Banna mountains to anyone who is not at all familiar with the area.

Thanks for the reminder about the broken links - it'll give me the impetus to get on and finish it!

Thats the best map I've seen. - The map of Xishuangbanna showing the locations of the main tea mountains, with lots of info popping up for each mountain, is great stuff!

Zhi Zheng - I bow to you.
