Re: Monday TeaDay 1/18/10 Unchristened teaware?
Thank you, Spitting. I'll keep trying teas, temperatures, etc. I'm finding it interesting, even if I haven't found a tea yet that I'm really excited about.

Let's see a pic of that bad boy! Nice cuke!!brad4419 wrote:Only 1 and thats because I just got it about 5 days agoIts a beautiful hand painted prcelain tiger yunomi and the reason I havent chistened it yet is because its 310ml/10.4 oz
Im going to use it for large cups of black/white and herbal teas so Im sure it will get its use.
I think that most of us started by trying teas ourselves that we have never tasted before. That is how you learn to brew to your taste. PM me with with the name of the oolong you have and I'll give you some brewing tips to get you started. Also what size and type of vessel.artmom wrote:I tried an oolong (can't remember the name) today. Don't think I used enough leaf.
I feel at a disadvantage in trying these sample teas; I don't know how they are supposed to taste--never having had the chance to visit a tea room or a sampling. I've found a tea room in Gatlinburg, TN about an hour away from here that carries special teas. If I feel physically up to it, perhaps my husband will drive me over so that I can sample some teas.

Oops I forgot to answer the poll - Yes, quite a bit actually. Many Hagi pieces I have yet to use, just admiring them in their pristine condition. And giving me something to look forward to.
Silk Road teas Hong Tao Mao Feng this morning. Yum! A favorite!
HAPPY MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY! I hope many of you in the USA have the day off. The post office is closed, so no teaware delivery, dang!

I don't.. but (+1) to those who do! I get President's day off instead, which should work out well, since I'm looking to be out of town that weekend.Victoria wrote:HAPPY MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY! I hope many of you in the USA have the day off.
My Lady Grey was a little off this morning, which is odd since I did it the same way I prepare it every day. Ah well, only 7 bags left, maybe I can finish it out by the end of the week. Mango Green this afternoon in an effort to finish off the last of my Bigelow stash.

Thanks for coloring our TD, Brad!
More than 1, perhaps bordering on a lot! Brand new Hagi is so beautiful in its new state, that it can be "hard" to use it the first time or so because it is often forever changed. I also love the "aging" Hagi, but it is always a bit of a leap using a new piece for the first time.
So, I tend to use the ones that are already christened and showing the next stage, beautiful crackling.
Began the TD with a tasting of Zencha Fuji SP in a lovely crackled Sansai Hagi, the crackles are greenish from the exclusive use of this wan for Japanese greens. SweeTea was impressed with the tea and crackles while TeaH made a rare appearance today.Awesome!

POURING down rain here today! January is the beginning of our rainy season and it is off with a bang! We so desperately need the rain, but as always it is a double edged sword as it also brings mudslides from the fire areas and flooding. If only it could be doled out a little more evenly.
I just had a nice hot oolong from Tao of Tea. their Wenshan Baozhong, which is pretty darn good.

Had to say "quite a bit" ........ of course. It gets ahead of me..... because it is part of my production.
(Sorry..... skewing the results.

Kind of a busy day for me, but I've finally had time for a cup of tea-- Jasmine #9 from Adagio.
I keep going to Jasmine at the end of my day... it's interesting. It just hits the spot.

Kept to just one tea re-steeping all day, Emerald Petals.
Still have 2 un-initiated wares that I purchased at an antique mall over Christmas. One is a large McCoy pot, pastel pink and green, but haven't been able to identify the name of the pattern yet. The other is a set of beautiful 4 oz. Japanese cups - such a deal I couldn't resist: 5 cups for $8. That's my kind of shopping!
Seems like ages since I've posted here, but wanted to stop by for a while tonight.

I have a tiny metal infuser spoon that's too small for even 6oz cups of tea. I've never used it, and never plan to.
