Guess I'm lucky I'm at work.. if I wasn't, I'd be in my kitchen making cupcakes instead of writing this

Hon gyokuro (zencha) just after dinner. Thanks again for this nice tea fencerdenoctum! I guess I will reorder some in the next weeks.
Edit: I have just reordered some (with a package of their koicha matcha Yame Sansui and some Yame asamushi ultimate sencha).

Happy Birthday TeaDay!!
In just two short years TeaDay has become the most posted to and undoubtedly the most visited forum on TeaChat. Congratulations
and Happy Birthday!!!
My tea has come from half a planet way or more. Japan or India, depending if it flies East or West.
In my cup this morning Bohea from Tao of Tea.

Happy Birthday, TeaDay!!! And wishes for many happy birthdays in the future!
I chose half a planet away, although it may not be entirely accurate: I ordered from Japan and China (Shanghai), but I'm on the West Coast of the US. I do have a pack of tea my father brought for me from Russia, which is exactly on the opposite end of the planet.
Handmade Nilgiri in my cup this morning.

Oregon to Hong Kong ~ 6500 miles or thereabouts.
Tea from the other day: my favorite teapot.

Is the Yame Sencha the Ultimate Asamushi? I always thought it was a fuka which seems to be their specialty.
Great Kyusu (and the Shira SO #7) shot Geek. I almost bought a reduction fired Kyusu verrry similar to that one, sans orchids however. Now if it had a Momiji painting on it ...

I still look for this style that is created in the firing.

Half a planet away. It is surprising to me how many members go to such distances. Before TC, I only thought about ordering from China, Japan, etc. But the forum gave me the confidence to take the plunge.
Began the TD with Sencha of course, Yutaka Midori direct from Japan and O-Cha.SweeTea did not miss her opp for YM while Pyrit looked for a warm lap on a chilly morn.

I ordered some samples from Hong Kong, but that's it so far. Drinking some sencha fuka-midori in my new kyusu, both of which just arrived today from Den's.

I had one package about two years (?) ago and I remember that the sencha had some long leaves and no "dust" as it is the case with fukamushi.

According to their picture, it looks asamushi to me.
After some research, I found a picture of the leaves (taken by pentox).
So not the lightest steamed sencha but not what I would call fukamushi.

Seems I had more smaller particles. However it would be unusual for an "ultimate" hand picked sencha to be fukamushi.

Houjicha Gold from Den's in my cup right now.

Half a planet... maybe... too lazy to google the distances. I've ordered from China, Japan, Taiwan, India.
Autumnal flush Darjeeling from Lochan in my cup... watching the snow fall... 7-10 inches expected tonight. For here, that's a LOT of snow. Fortunately I don't work again til Tuesday... so I am content to be snowed in with tea in hand, just hoping the power doesn't go out. The catastrophic ice storm was almost exactly one year ago...
