I mostly use double lidded Japanese canisters that are covered in Washi paper, beautiful and functional. However, the tins tend to be too large for my satisfaction, so I then place up to 50 grams in an Upton sample tin, and two of these will fit into a typical Washi canister.

Some would say this is a bit of an over kill ... but it works for me, well for greens! I am not so fanatical when it comes to storing other types of tea, but Japanese greens, definitely fanatical.

If you have been around here long enough, you will know I am also a bit fanatical about Momiji (Japanese Maple) motif in teaware ... and accessories too.

Darjeeling before lunch, ended up with Kitsune instead of sushi for lunch, but when I got there I really wanted soup.. ah well. Sushi another time. Did manage to pick up my W2 and chat with my manager though, and it looks like I'm working next weekend - hopefully we'll be busy! Back at work, 4th infusion of Darjeeling, then someone brought in ice cream and, of course, it's starting to snow. Want to make another infusion, but I'll only be here another 15 minutes, so not sure it's worth it.

Im satisfied with using the containers the tea comes in most of the time and for long term I use rishi's double lidded tins. This has been working well so far so probably no changes needed.

Thanks everyone for sharing your storage methods, and also for all the photos!

Began the TD with Sencha, next up Zencha Matcha in a Cory Lum Chawan wth Mrs. Chip. And now more sencha ... great TeaDay!

Have bought a variety of tea tins, double lidded and some single lidded that have a most satisfying 'pop' as they're opened, suggesting that they really are reasonably airtight. But as the teas have appeared in larger and larger numbers, the poor stackability of the various tins is becoming a problem, and I don't really want to repackage teas that come in nice small vacuum sealed packages to fit in a too-large tin.

So now it's four plastic tubs, one for white & green teas, one for lighter oolongs, one darker oolongs & black teas, one for puerhs, filled with a variety of tins, bags, and baggies. Not pretty, but sort of functional.

My wish list would include several dozen square, stackable containers, sized so that they would all neatly fit into some nice bins for my tea shelf, and I could pull out the bins without the square tea boxes falling all over each other.

Today enjoying another batch spring Tie Guan Yin from Norbu (kept in a the double-bag it came in), and finishing the work day with a smaller brewing of Imperial Long Jing from Jing Tea.

I store opened teas in double-lidded tea cannisters. All unopened bags are vacuum-packed and stored in boxes, and Japanese greens that are to be consumed later are vac-packed and then go into the TeaFridge.

I finished the day with Zencha sencha Moe.

I use a combination of containers for my tea. For puerh, mostly I leave them in their paper wrappers and in a wood cabinet. All my other teas are in either double lidded canisters, air-tight canisters (the kind that remove air as you close them, and you have to push and hold a button to remove the lid or they won't open), and foodsaver vacuum canisters where I pump the air out with the foodsaver machine (for my open japanese greens).
For some I use a combination of the foodsaver or airtights and the foil lined bags with clips, unless they have built-in ziplock.

Mystery gift matcha this morning, then organic saemidori, and right now my own soothing blend of organic: chamomile, calendula, and lavender.

My friend, the one who's gotten me into tea, gave me his "extra" $100 fancy-pants tea chest. It houses supposed air-tight tea tins. It's easy on the eyes.

He has a trust fund..

I'm not too fussy

Here's most of it:

Obviously all arranged in alphabetical order, with some unused teawares dotted around.

I have had the Sansui, also very good. I did not have it as the full throttle Koicha, but sort of intermediate.
