How many pieces of teaware/accessories does it take for you to enjoy your first cup of tea? Does this change from tea to tea, and for successive teas? Please be sure to share.

Re: Wednesday TeaDay 2/10/10 Teaware and accessories, how many?

Began the TD with Organic Kabuse from O-Cha with 13 teaware items making it happen! Served in Hagi SO #1, Sea Cuke Guinomi! Next up, Matcha with Mrs. Chip! Did not count the teaware items this time.

Phone photos ...

Major snow here today! Under the eaves of the house, but major icicles are forming everywhere from more than 3 feet of snow in 5 days:

Avoiding the snow shoveling as the snow gets deeper and deeper. More than a foot so far and still coming down.

Wisteria and wind chime ... a Carolina Wren showed up today and has been knocking the snow off of the vines ... and seems to want to come inside the house which is driving the cats crazy!

Wow, Chip - those icicles looks scary dangerous!

I voted 3: 1) Zoji or kettle; 2) teapot (usually PersonaliTEA); and 3) mug.

Nilgiri Nonsuch this morning. Right now at work we are all trying to recover from an awesome Post-Super Bowl, Pre-Valentine's Day potluck we had in our department. It's nap time!

First cup -- tea kettle (gas range), tea pot, tea cozy, scoop, strainer (or infuser), (thermometer only if other than black tea), cup: so usually 6, but sometimes 7.

Later cups -- microwave, ingenuiTEA, drip tray, scoop, thermometer, cup, so 6 usually.

So, I voted 6. :D

The ones hanging from the eaves are actually looking pretty deadly, easily 4+ feet long and numerous. I keep knocking them down, but they keep coming back.

And lots more snow today will mean icicles for at least another week or so.

OK MOD announcement: I am sure many of you are currently affected by the error code when posting. We are working on a resolution. So be patient, please. Also, I noticed a lot of "doubleposts" as members appear to be submitting the same post/topic twice as a result of the error code.

So, sorry for the problems, but hopefully it will be resolved shortly!

Sauce pan, teapot/gaiwan, teacup and accessories is usually thermometer, pocket scale, stop watch...I think thats all. Thats 6 total teaware and accessories for a cup of tea.

Afternoon oolong and evening puerh: electric kettle, kamjove infuser in lieu of teapot, tea tray (optional), thermos with drinking cup/cap for brewed tea: 3 or 4 items. That's not counting the 2-3 cups for tea shared from the thermos.

I said 3, but it varies.
Typically: kettle, teapot (w/strainer; or IngenuiTEA), mug. Alternatively: kettle, teapot, strainer (separate: used over the mug), mug.
Or: kettle, gaiwan (technically gaiwan is 3 pieces, but it's all together, so I count it as one).
If on the road: kettle, teapress; or IngenuiTEA and thermos.

Started out the TD with more CurrantBerry (almost out!), then Earl Grey this afternoon. None this evening, partially because I spent all day out at our home office, so I didn't get home until 7. Will hopefully make up for that tomorrow.

Matcha earlier 13 ... Matcha canister, scoop, screen, scale, chawan, Korean water cooler, kettle, GraviTea, thermometer, chasen, chasen stand, chataku, tea tray ... well, pretty accessorized.

Finished the TD with a blend of leftover sencha AND matcha recovered from the improv matcha screen tin and canister. I will guess and say 13 items ... I am beginning to get a complex that I am over accessorized ... nahhhhh ...

Lots of snow shovelling today, and did not see a snow plow alllll day, so I am sure to be plowed in come morning. Que sera, sera.
