Re: Sunday TeaDay 2/21/10 Endo?
I immediately thought of endocrine, and was expecting some discussion of sugar in tea or other diabetes-related discussion.
Re: Sunday TeaDay 2/21/10 Endo?
No rhyme or reason to my last tea of the day, which is in total opposition to my Virgoan tendency to want things "just so."
It's a beautiful day here in NE Oregon - sunny but just a tad cold in the shade. It might be nice to take a long walk to warm up!
More "Morning Sunshine" blend this morning. Waiting to see what the rest of the day will bring tea-wise.

I just had a small box come in from Den's and had ordered some of the Houji-Kukicha for this very reason. Caffeine after noon doesn't work too well for me, so evening is usually herbal, rooibos or something. I enjoyed the Houjicha that came in the Den's sampler, and thought the Houji-Kukicha might be even lower in caffeine (start with lower caffeine kukicha, and then remove caffeine with the houjicha roasting, true?). Had some last night just before bed, but I was up pretty late so not sure yet how the experiment worked. Certainly didn't have any trouble falling asleep.Chip wrote: For instance, I typically end my TD with a low or no caffeine "tea" or tea. It varies from day to day, but is generally Japanese or at least Japanese influenced. Kukicha, Houjicha, Houji-Kukicha, Genmaicha, Mugi, Mugi/Genmai, And a plethoria of related blends.
Been drinking the Sencha extra green (sencha with matcha) today. Pretty tasty and wow, what a color.

Great way to boost your post count!geeber1 wrote:Sorry for the double-post, I seem to be having issues today!
Next up, Den's Kaze Matcha served up in a Seigan loquat Chawan with Mrs. Chip. This is an everyday version from Aichi, Japan. It is mellow, mildly sweet, and very enjoyable.
Yeah, the Houji Kukicha should be very low in caffeine for the reasons you stated. I also like the mellow nutty character of this selection from Den's!brian wrote:I just had a small box come in from Den's and had ordered some of the Houji-Kukicha for this very reason. I have to say no rhyme or reason, but generally ends up being a different tea. Sometimes none at all on days when I only have tea in the morning (for whatever reason). And it tends not to be in the evening, but in the afternoon or while cooking dinner, so I'm not worried about caffiene.
Today started out with some peach/vanilla oolong, then more of Den's Sencha Fuka-midori - very tasty! I let the first steep go a little too long and it was quite bitter, but subsequent steeps were excellent.

Endo to a cyclist conjures up unhappy thoughts of going head first over the handlebars.kymidwife wrote:The poll header really sparked my curiosity today before I read Chip's entry. In my world of healthcare, "endo" is short for "endoscopy", so I was wondering how a scope stuck down your esophagus and into your stomach was going to play into a tea theme.

Currently a tasting of Zencha Fuji SP.

And of course it's not really Monday either.
Well maybe in France.
Foshou Hon Cha from Imperial Teas UK to finish the TeaDay. I don't usually drink a new tea this late, but it's chilly here and it sounded good.

Re: Sunday TeaDay 2/21/10 Endo?
Thanks for the clarification C-man!
I'm going to read the question as end of teaday relative to beginning of tea day (vs end of this teaday relative to ends of other teadays).
So, I voted 'usually a different tea'. I almost always begin the day with matcha. I never end the day with matcha. But sometimes I begin the teaday with a white - and sometimes I end the teaday with a white. Also, I almost always begin the teaday by following my matcha with a japanese green or some type of white. I almost never begin the day with a tisane, but often end the day thus.
This morning: mysterious gift matcha followed by a wicked wonderful mix of Teavana Gyo, Organic Saemidori, and Organic Gokujo.

Re: Sunday TeaDay 2/21/10 Endo?
It really depends on the day. If I am having my last tea after 5, it is a herbal of some sort, though i have on occasion tried a decaf tea. If it is earlier in the day, it is more likely white or green.
Started out with White peony today, allergy soother herbal tea later, and will probably have more before bed. Have been a little stuffy and it seems to clear my head. (maybe just placebo effect, but hey its cheaper and better tasting than medicine!!)

Again there really is no rhyme or reason, I'm more of on a whim of what I feel like than any strategic planning.
Heres a photo of my last tea today.

Like many have said...there is not a lot of rhyme or reason to what I end the tea day with...except it can't have much caffeine in it. Lots of times it is a 3rd brew black...first two brews get used up in the morning. Sometimes if I started a Japanese green very late in the afternoon, it will be a 3rd or 4th brew of that. Lots of times this winter we've all had Tulsi in the late evening. Recently, some lovely flavored rooibos has been just the thing in the evening. Adagio's vanilla rooibos, carmel rooibos, and chocolate honeybush, and SpecialTeas rooibos chai are newly discovered favs (and my tea buddy at work also likes all these, so I have been enjoying these mid-morning at work, too.)
Started today with Vanilla rooibos, enjoyed some Sae Midori in the afternoon and right now I'm sipping on a nice hot mug of relaxing Tulsi...Life is oh-so-good!
Have a great week, all,
Dreamer
