Re: Yuzamashi/samashi
My thermometer often is found leaning on various things with one end in my too small and too short fair cup. This seems like an excellent solution.Chip wrote:the thermometer sits in it quite nicely in the tall one without flopping out
Re: Yuzamashi/samashi
TO- love that hagi yuza! Nice.
Also the other two, tho those 1st two you posted, no finger rim/ridges - burn, burn, burn!
(gorgeous tho).
GG - I have two from Rishi - one totally dribbles
the other is great - but a bit on the tall side - so patience required (less water surface area exposed to air).
If i get inspired, I'll post pics.

Re: Yuzamashi/samashi
ok, some pics.
turns out I have three (forgot about the third - the green one, front and center, and don't remember now where I got it
)

The metallic one (upper right) is the dribbly one; just tried it again for kicks, yup, hella-dribbles (unless you pour it just right, and only after the first ounce or so - I've never been able to avoid dribblage with the first ounce or so, no matter how I pour
).
Here are the potter's stamps:
the "dribbler":

the tall one (coppery color - upper left 1st photo):

and the green one, the one I use mostly, when I use a yuzamashi:

hope this is of some assistance.
Cheers.

I always wear fur lined gloves when using yuzamashi.Seeker wrote:TO- love that hagi yuza! Nice.

The 2 small ones I use mostly for cooling water for gyokuro. At 60C, they are not too hot to pick up, but, this could be a good technique to incorporate into my Gong Fu martial arts training. Iron Finger Style!

Hi V,
I think it only comes in earthy/coppery tone.
It's available on Rishi - it's a Yakishime Tetsuki Samashi, in the Tokoname section.
cheers.

Re: Yuzamashi/samashi
Seeker, thanks for letting me know about your drippler. That was one I was considering, so it's good to know its flaws.
I've been eyeing that tall Hokujo. I'm torn between it, and the 3 footed yuza on AN. (they have it in a 10oz size too!)

Geek, I have the 7oz. 3-footed yuza from AN and I love it. I use it all of the time. It's my go-to yuza.Geekgirl wrote:I'm torn between it, and the 3 footed yuza on AN. (they have it in a 10oz size too!)

Re: Yuzamashi/samashi
How to know when you have too much teaware -
1. When you forget you have something that you really could use
2. When you look at the same item you already own online and
decide not to buy it (good thing there, huh?)
3. When you even post about it and still don't realize you own it.
Oh yeah, it's mine.
