See topic. Recent cold snaps, snow in Japan/China will have a huge impact on new harvest teas from not only Japan, but China as well. Will this impact your tea buying?

Oh no, no first flush tea? I am shocked

Heh, seems my weaving a tall tale into an ounce of truth has fallen short of the mark. Yes, there was snow and a cold snap in Japan and there could POSSIBLY be crop damage, but first flush does not appear to be in jeopardy.

Geeber actually raises another concern, the never ending drama of Darjeeling droughts. Is it just me, don't they say this every year? And yet there always seems to be outstanding Darjeelings.

Oh, and nobody questioned my riding my bike for 100 miles on my 100th birthday? Does this seem so plausible.

Yes it is April Fool's Day!   But it ilso TeaDay!

Speaking of TD, began with mystery sencha from O-Cha. It has an earthy character to it today. But it is sencha!!! SweeTea enjoyed some rather hurriedly.

 You got everyone good Chip xD

Actually I´ve been looking at the 1st flush Chinese greens that are begining to appear...I´m planning on making a smallish order from Jing Tea Shop when they get a few more 2010 greens in to begin an exploration of the world of high grade Chinese green tea :)

Also I´m waiting for Thunderbolt´s first flush Darjeelings...I might also ask Benoy for an Autumnal or two since I seem to have skipped that flush unintentionally...sheesh where do the months go? :?

In my cup today is FLT´s Taiwan Wuyi...I love the aroma and soft body of this tea :)

Chip - you got us good!

Maybe they make a big deal in Darjeeling so we'll appreciate their tea more? Something like "Wow, I was SO lucky to get that 1st Flush Darj, considering the drought and all!"

It's kind of like the water situation where I live - every year they predict doom and gloom, but we still manage to have enough water to support our very agriculture-heavy area.

I have to admit this was one of the better April Fool's pranks I've seen in a while. In my half-asleep state this morning, I read this clutching a cup of sencha saying "NOOOO!". I actually did a Japan news search to try to put my mind at ease. Good one, Chipper.

I do hope the frost didn't do too much damage to the new buds and leaves in actuality, though. :/ I wish someone from Japan would chime in on this because I couldn't find any relevant info on the internet.

Nothing I can do about it so no worries, I will buy the same teas as I would have but it is a bit disapointing. Sometimes the first flushes are lacking a bit anyways due to the rush to get then in the market first so Im not too sad.

ding gu da fang today. The last of it so hoping teaspring gets some in soon

It is weird that there is no info out there, inquiries have been made to those in the know ... hope to hear some good news soon!

Mystery sencha from Ryu Mei earlier, and a not so stellar attempt at Gyokuro with Mrs. Chip. Not sure what I did wrong ... thinking of Hydrangea "tea" from Korea/Hankook. Really refreshing!

Well, I was just about to sell everything I had and enter a monastery at the thought of no shincha. However, now that I know it as an April fools joke/exaggeration, I have abandoned that plan and look forward to my O-Cha shincha pre-order. Actually, I think that if there was no shincha we would miss spring entirely and just move back into winter!

Had a first flush Darjeeling Thurbo "White Delight" from Tea Emporium this morning. Jury still out on that one. This evening I'm having a glass of autumn flush red wine......
