I have always been intrigued by white teas, no doubting that. When in the mood, they can be completely amazing in a sublime kind of way. Yet it is not the tea I sit and think, "man I want some white tea."
I will usually pick a white if I am staring at the tea selection and wanting something a bit different than normal, and something I have not had i a week or so.
But white is always very enjoyable once it is in the cup.
Began the TD with mystery sencha from O-Cha. Came out quite good today again. SweeTea would agree while Gandalf and Fuji just stopped by.

White tea is just not my cuppa'. I have some, but never find myself choosing it! Maybe I will revisit it with a new attitude.
Re: Friday TeaDay 4/16/10 White teas can't jump?
Usually a couple times a week for white tea here. Currently have a White Peony that I do enjoy.
Started this morning with Adagio Maestro Ali Shan. I was quite impressed with this tea! I have not experienced too much Oolong for comparision, but this one was a winner for me.
Tried the Pouchong after that. Not sure if I brewed wrong or just not my style. It was good, just not as impressive to me as the Ali Shan.

Help set the mood with the right music--vivaldi, bach, gregorian chant--and drink some by itself, when you're feeling well fed, calm, perhaps a little tired, but not stressed and exhausted. It is a tea that rewards you when you can contemplate its wonderful nuances in a peaceful mood.artmom wrote:Maybe I will revisit it with a new attitude.

Re: Friday TeaDay 4/16/10 White teas can't jump?
After having a very few VERY GOOD white teas, the rest just taste like sour, dusty, stale tea. I love the idea of them, as well, but given their structure and the nature of their processing, it is near impossible to package one that will stay fresh on the trip from Chinese farm to a teashop anywhere. If someone has a source and pictures of a good white, I would try it!

I drink longevity brows just about every day (have it in my cup right now) and silver needle three to four times a week. Obviously I like them. I always think of them as "juicy" tea, if you know what I mean.
I've been reading through MarshalN's blog the past two weeks, and I believe he was the person who mentioned that white tea always tastes the same, cup to cup, session to session. I had never thought about that, but it does seem to be true. There is far more variety to my oolongs from session to session.

I'm looking forward to the TeaPot weekend on here. My DH helped gather about 20 of my TeaPots together (w/o too much huffing, puffing, or groaning

Sounds like someone is throwing down the gauntlet!artmom wrote: I'm looking forward to the TeaPot weekend on here. We didn't dig out any that are wrapped up and stored, or any that would have required climbing to get to, though.
What tea to have ...

WOW, artmom!!! Should be quite the weekend on TeaDay! I am looking forward to a showdown! Chip may have a few surprises too!
In fact, I am sure there are quite a few here on TC who have many pots to share on this Weekend English TEAPOT Extravaganza.

I'm looking forward to it too. I am photographing a few this afternoon when the light gets optimal. Should be fun!artmom wrote: I'm looking forward to the TeaPot weekend on here. In my cup this afternoon Adagio Maestro AliShan.
Delish!

Glad you have some pots possibly to go along with some of those gorgeous cups you posted in the past ... yeah, should be fun!Victoria wrote:

This was the first tea I tried from the Maestro Collection, and I agree with Delish! IMHO, way much better than their regular offering.

I love white tea-- the only problem is, I never get a lot of it at one time, so I end up kind of "rationing" it until the next time I buy any. (Actually, that may be tomorrow, which is good because I only have enough left to make one cup!
) Bai mu tan is my favorite, although I have yet to try silver needle, and the white tea with rose petals really intrigues me.
Started off the day with some longjing, now drinking a couple cups of rose congou. I'll probably end the day with a second infusion of the longjing (yes, it's definitely a favorite).
