Hmmmm, interesting to have a Tea-Day poll about something completely unrelated to tea. Yes, I drink the decoctions of certain herbs, for medicinal reasons. I find them to be very useful and even pleasant on occasion. Most often I will use Holy Basil or Dokudami.

My Buttercup is not feeling well today and I am going to make her some Dokudami right now :)

We are now drinking Meiryoku Gyokuro Aracha. Very rich and green and full of handmade flavor (but not handmade!)

I used to drink a decent amount of peppermint, but when I developed acid reflux, I did a lot of reading, a lot. I think I know more than my doctor who really missed the mark on some simple things I could have done.

I really did not mess with my diet, I like spicey foods, etc ... and caffeinated tea and chocolate. I was not prepared to follow the quicky advice and cut all the fun stuff out.

Instead, through reading and researching, I eliminated peppermint and began focusing on GREEN tea almost exclusively. Poof, acid reflux was virtually gone.

So herbs are not always beneficial!!!

But lately I have enjoyed Korean Hydrangea tea (Hankook) which is an herbal tea.

I drink herbals occationally...usually piña colada from euro té or dried peppermind from my garden...I like red clover but it gives me migraines because there´s a lot of phytoestrogens in it I suppose.

And I really want to find some hibiscus (jamaica flower) locally...I picked up a taste for agua de jamaica (iced hibiscus tisane) when I was visiting my gf in Mexico. :D First day there she took me to Taco Inn for breakfast...had a platefull of delicious al pastor (similar to greek gyros) tacos and agua de jamaica for breakfast...it was sooo good : )::..

I adore my puerh, but not in the morning. I like it for afternoon or evening, preferably on cooler gray overcast or rainy days, when the smoky warmth just feels so right.

In the morning I want sprightly lush green or green oolongs to get me started.

This morning ran out of time and had to resort to hot chocolate, no tea at all. Going to make up for it with a nice pouchong now.

Herbals are very hit-or-miss with me. I either absolutely love them or can't drink them at all... Generally, I like tisanes made from flowers (like hibiscus, chamomile, chrysanthemum, lavender, etc.) or kitchen herbs like rosemary. Oh my gosh, rosemary, don't even let me start about it... Mmm. 8) Rooibos is also pretty good. I did unfortunately have to pawn off a box of holy basil on a friend because it wasn't really my thing. Fortunately, she loved it.

Currently drinking my second cup of a green tea-oolong-jasmine blend; later I'll probably have a hibiscus tisane.

I love rooibos and honeybush. I also like mate.
And now that I'm pregnant I have been drinking a mix of raspberry leaf, nettle, dandelion, lemon balm and oatstraw.

I used to keep a lot of the celestial seasonings around for my Wife and Daughter. Now not so much since I created a couple blends from Adagio that they like even better! Not completely herbal as they are based around the Decaf Apricot Green and the Decaf Citron Green with some herbals thrown in to blend with.

I drink and love a select few herbal tisanes. My favorite stand along herbal would have to green rooibos. I also really love mints and lemongrass but I drink them primary with other teas or tisanes.

Please, do start about it. I have a happy rosemary bush that wants to conquer the world, and am running out of soups and foccaccias and cookies to make with it. How do you make your rosemary tisanes?

Just had my first taste of this a few months ago, and liked it well enough to order some more online, after my local sources didn't have it in stock. It was peppery and a wonderful addition to a chamomile herb mix for me. What didn't you like about it? Did you try it plain?

Herbal tisanes are honestly one of my favorite drinks, although in the summer much more than the winter. I'm so excited right now, as all the herbs in my greenhouse are beginning to sprout. Herbal teas are my favorite part of spring, summer and fall, I miss them during the winter.

At the moment I have ~35 or so herbs sprouting. I love all of them for their unique taste and medicinal qualities. Lavender and Echinacea tisanes are my favorites, however.

Ironically, my herbs are what got me into tea in the first place. I've been growing things for a long time, but only recently did a friend turn me on to good teas. And what a journey it has become!

Fresh Peppermint tisane in my cup this evening.

Regards,

... did manage to have some herbal today ... the Korean Hydrangea tea ... nice. Oh and some real tea as well. Mystery sencha from O-Cha, Adagio's TKY, and Sakura Sencha from yeah, O-Cha.

Be sure t check out the TC TA SO at 10 tonight eastern time under Teaware and Accessories. This is the first of the homegrown SOs. I think you will really like the glaze that ChicagoPotter has out together for us, and great shapes!

Rosemary grows most places. Are you in Greenland? (^^) We keep our rosemary in a pot to keep it under control. Haven't found the holy basil, yet, but I would like to try growing that. Lovely herb.

 Most rosemary varieties aren´t hardy below USDA zone 9, and I haven´t seen any hardy below zone 7....I´m in zone 3
