Re: Thursday TeaDay 4/22/10 TeaBudget 2010?
I´m not sure I even want to know
Just what I order from overseas will be a few hundred but I don´t track all the little purchases from the local shops that would add up pretty fast...

A down side to not overstocking teas is that reordering/restocking is always necessary. The upside is obvious ... always fresh teas which is my goal in not overstocking in the first place. But I do not buy what won't be used ... so it is all good.
Quick math, 300 grams +/- per month (likely more) so more than 700, but I know this is low. I figure add another 33-50% to that. Probably 900 to 1050.

No purchase necessary, normal shipping charges apply when the tea is ready.
Woo hoo!
Thanks Cyn for the reminder - I hope we all are participating, we are all here for the tea, right?
In my cup this morning partial Adagio Maestro Jasmine and TKY. A nice combo and a good way to use the bits that were left.

Except for Rachel and Olivier, quite a few of you are in denial
.
I picked $1250+ as my budget. My target is $1200 and I plan to keep the actual amount below $1500. Next year I'll trim it to $1200.
I had Jing's traditional shui xian for breakfast and Zencha's Ultimae gyokuro with lunch.

Haha I think you may be right. Especially if the Spring Oolongs prove exceptional this year. And my proclivity towards non-US vendors and their ever rising postage rates.brlarson wrote:Except for Rachel and Olivier, quite a few of you are in denial.

I really do not want to do the math, I feel it may just scare me. I may be able to give an accurate number next year as I am thinking of opening up a Tea savings account
Re: Thursday TeaDay 4/22/10 TeaBudget 2010?
Under $200 and Im hopeing around $150 this year. Im trying to cut back hard on budget and tea and gardening is being hit the hardest and next year will be worse. School tuition is a pain

I'm probably going to spend a little over $100 this year-- although a lot of that is leftover gift money from holidays and my birthday. Thus far, I've bought probably about $30 or $40 worth of tea, and I have some pu-erhs and sakura sencha on my want list, so I'll see what happens there...
Green tea with lotus petals right now, probably to be followed by some chrysanthemum tea later tonight.

I was going to the PO in order to send a bunch of shincha samples. This one must have been on the top and ended up under the seat. 11 months later ... at a time when there is nary a sencha leaf in the house, I consider this a wind fall.debunix wrote:How did THAT happen?Chip wrote:Began the TD witha sample of Sugimoto 88 Night shincha from 2009 that sat under the car seat for almost a year.
So, two samples actually, the 88 Nights and Zencha's Takumi. I was surprised, not nearly as bad as I would have expected. Although I suspect that once new shincha arrives, my perceptions will be quite different.
So, Takumi is currently brewing ... see how that goes ... but smells pretty good. However, I am not abandoning the TeaFridge!!!

After giving it a little more thought and looking at my overall budget... yea, definitely shooting for $200-250. Any more than that, and I'll have to start cutting things like internet from my list... Yay for low-paying jobs providing for 2 people because the other is spending all his earnings on paying off school loans

Budget? What's that? I'm not familiar with this strange word.

DH Ed and Barclay are off to obedience school--so I'm celebrating with my second brew of Black Pearl from Adagio for the day.
Each time they come back, Barclay is behaving better!!!
