I have 6 or 7 teas I drink throughout the week, or at least I do this week. Mostly different blacks, plus one white at the moment. My ratio of open:using is not quite but very nearly 1:1. It would be 1:1 except there are a couple that I have that I don't like.
So far today I've had the best Earl Grey I've ever had and a lovely orange spice, both from Mountain Rose Herbs. I think I may go brew some more silver needle in a while.
Re: Friday TeaDay 4/23/10 Be real, # you are currently drinking?
On average, I drink about 5-6 different teas in a week. I currently have 15 open (including samples. I've been finishing off a lot of them lately) So that puts me at about a 3-1 ratio.
The last of the silver needles this morning, thinking about some oolong now.

I drink at least 8-10 different kinds of tea per week-- at least two different kinds daily, although I sometimes drink the same kind of tea on several days (my beloved looseleaf pu, mainly
). As for my ratio... Gosh, it has to be like 2.5:1; I just love tea and often can't wait to try any new acquisitions! (Also, my friends are partly to blame, because they all want to try everything at the tea parties we have.
)
Looseleaf pu-erh right now, probably to be followed by a green of some sort later or a hibiscus tisane.

Today I brewed in my new Kyusu and Used my new cup for Shincha. The cup was is rather plain, but like all hagi pieces, I love it when I am using it.
Sadly I did not take pictures.

The contents of this box are (not is) soaking in a pot of HOT water. Well, except for a wood box with multiple compartments.AdamMY wrote:+1Geekgirl wrote:Pics or it didn't happen.Chip wrote: A box arrived from Japan today, well 2 actually ...

The other box contains a "top secret" sample of a tea from Kagoshima, pictures and further info are presently prohibited.

Im running out of tea fast, and my spring teas arn't in yet but I probably drink 6-7 different teas a week and 3-4 times that many open if you count all the black teas in tins. This year I plan on not making the mistake of opening everything at once again
A little self control will be the challenge.

Re: Friday TeaDay 4/23/10 Be real, # you are currently drinking?
Looks as if I'm more normal than I thought (at least in this crowd!) I typically drink three different teas a day--morning, afternoon, evening, usually a Dragonwell in the morning and a rotation afternoons and especially evenings, unless/until I want to finish something off, when I may stick with the same thing for several days running. So on average probably 6-7 different teas a week. Not counting samples, there are a dozen-plus teas open at the moment, and several recent arrivals waiting in the wings, so roughly a 2:1 ratio. I overdid on the sincha ordering, no thanks to various enthusiasts around here, which means things are going to get very interesting in the tea cupboard over the next month or so unless I do better at clearing the shelves than I've managed of late. Too much good stuff, too little time. Tonight it's Lu An Gua Pian.
Re: Friday TeaDay 4/23/10 Be real, # you are currently drinking?
I usually drink 4-5 different teas in a given week. I love variety. I have even more open. Most of them are small amounts though.
Drinking mint tea this evening.

I figure 8-10 different teas a week. I have no idea how many I have open. Off the chart I'm sure.

Ok, skipping samples....and not counting things like osmanthus blossoms, chamomile, and other non-C. sinensis teas, the grand total is: about 45. So teas per week to teas opened, not counting samples of 25g or less (but counting the Dan Congs and others purchased in tiny quantities but due to rarity/price rather than sampling), about 3:1 or 4:1.
Not so bad as I thought it would be. I have been a bit more restrained lately, have some new-to-me teas that have been in the house for a couple of months but aren't opened yet, because too many others are opened.
And today's tea day is brought to you by a very white-tea-like delicate infusion of Yunnan Mao Feng from Norbu; a spicy Rou Gui from Houde; and now a last Huo Shan Huang Ya yellow tea from Jing Tea Shop (this time a sample, next time will be a full-scale purchase, love this stuff).
Also working on seasoning my cheapo yixing pots, having originally just run boiling water through them a few times: this time have boiled them in a pot, let them sit in simmering tea overnight, and now have the whole batch filled up with some decent leaf, getting reading to let them steep overnight. After this comes the yixing vs gaiwan infusion test, hey hey!
