That room is really inviting. I wish I had room in my teashop to do a setup like that or was it just tea houses? That's great. I really need to get to Korea.
Here's a photo of my setup in my teashop. I thought it was comfortable, but now that I've seen your photo, I'm having second thoughts about it. I don't think that people would be willing to sit on the floor here, but I might have to come up with something different. You've inspired me. I also need to change my lights I think. They're nice and bright, but kinda industrial looking.

Re: Room Dedicated to Tea?
Thank you so much Chip, Victoria, and Tead Off. It means a lot. I like it too, but after seeing Tead Off's photo, it doesn't look as warm and comfortable.
I have a nice piece of old wood that is pitted and beautifully ugly and I think I'll finish it and use it to make a movable Korean type tea area in my tea room at home. I could lay it down for a tea session and then move it to my tea storage room when not in use.
You are all more than welcome to come anytime. I'd be more than happy to act as guide and share lots of teas.

Wow, what lovely tea rooms.
I am not so fortunate to have a whole room dedicated to tea-- rather, I just have a little tea "corner" where I keep my small collection of tea-ish things. Maybe someday.

IPT,
That looks like a nice space too.
And for anyone "lamenting" not having a formal space...... "Tea is where you drink it."
IPT, you say "tea shop". Is that your main business over there?
best,

I have two tea shops here, but they are my investment for my future tea house. I also work full time in tourism. Every penny of profit I make in the tea shops goes straight back into inventory. I plan on retiring when I am 60 years old and opening a tea house. I will then fill it with my antiques, tea collections, and my inventory, which I am buying now. I am far from rich, and figure it is better for me to buy it now and let it age, then try to buy aged teas, or teaware in 20 years. It will be my place to relax, drink tea, paint, and play music. I can never fully retire, I'm not that sort of person. I need to keep working, so this will be my way to relax and work at the same time. I plan on building a very traditional teahouse. I've designed it already.

Re: Room Dedicated to Tea?
I was busy this weekend. I dug some old windows out of storage hung them on the wall. I think it adds a nice touch to my tea room and wanted people's opinions. I thought about hanging a mirror behind them so that it looks like there is another room behind them. What do you think?

Way kool IPT! Mighty nice old windows and I like the set-up just the way it is. I know that mirrors can give the illusion of more space, however looks perfect to me.IPT wrote:I was busy this weekend. What a lovely tearoom idea. Show us more, please.

Re: Room Dedicated to Tea?
Thank you.
I'm not sure if the mirrors would look cheesy, so I thought I'd get others' input.
How about photos of your tearoom?

Re: Room Dedicated to Tea?
Maybe not cheesy but I personally believe that the mirrors would take away from those gorgeous old windows, however others might disagree.
Chip needs to work on the pictures.

Re: Room Dedicated to Tea?
That is a stunning piece IPT! I would love to own that!
I love mirrors, so I think it would look great!
It does add dimension and make the room seem bigger
as well as the illusion of bing a window. But I would only do it
if there was a reasonable way to keep the mirror clean.
Looks beautiful!

An incredibly good point! Forget the mirrors!Victoria wrote:But I would only do it

Re: Room Dedicated to Tea?
I am glad you are not going to use the mirrors. The more I thought about it, I believe they could have taken away a bit of the ambiance and serenity of your TeaRoom, instead of enhancing it.IPT wrote: Forget the mirrors!

And yeah, cleaning them would be a nightmare!
