I'm in Southwest USA - Southern California - and Orange County to be exact. Here all the cities run together with no real borders in between. So we identify with our county, not our city. So that being said, "our" claim to fame is Disneyland and home to Angels Baseball, The Ducks hockey, and world renowned surfing beaches such as Newport Beach and Huntington.
Lots of famous people are from here, including President Nixon and of course John Wayne made his home here as well.

We are a short drive from Los Angeles and not too far from San Diego, with the best weather in all of the USA. (Except Hawaii, of course)

Started my morning with 2010 AliShan from TeaMasters.

Hey there,

I'm right here in the Midwest US...live in a 'burb of St. Louis.

St. Louis is "famous" as the gateway to the west...as memorialized by the St. Louis Arch. We've also got the St. Louis Cardinals-- the team with the best fans in baseball! We're famous for toasted ravioli, frozen custard (think extremely delish creamy ice cream), commercializing iced tea and inventing the ice cream cone (1904 World's Fair...we do have HOT summers). We've got a world renowned zoo and symphony, great hospitals, major universities, and great food (esp. Italian).

St. Louis has a lot of interesting history...being on the Mississippi river and being a "jumping off place" for heading West, it used to be a major city.

The actual municipality I live in has about 40,000 people with quite a diverse mix...pretty "small town" and friendly, but not famous for anything.

This morning in my mug...Assam (don't remember which one) with a bit of milk stirred in...yummy.

I'm loving reading all the answers here! Thanks all for sharing!

Wuyi this morning. Not sure what's next.. got some baking to do, and then a couple errands to run, then back for tea and dinner before work.
Laura, my daughter lives in Brevard and works in Asheville. Not too far from your neck of the woods!

I just moved away from Edmonton a couple years back! Right before most of the tea stores moved in.

I live in Southern Alberta now. As with every city and town in Alberta, my city's claim to fame is "The World's Biggest..." something. I won't say what because that would narrow it down too much, but everywhere here has the world's biggest something. Mall, Ukranian Easter egg, Teepee, etc.

I never found a place in my heart for the toasted ravioli, but in my nine years in St Louis I came to adore Ted Drewe's, and really miss those concretes on hot summer nights with the crowds still thick at midnight.

But it wasn't until I got my new job in LA that I had my own office where I can keep a tea setup there as well as at home that my tea explorations really took off.

USA, SE region, Western Kentucky... aka The Big Blue Nation. I'm in the little pointy part of the state, nudging up against the Tennessee and Indiana borders. I'm about 2 hours north of the flooded city of Nashville.

Recently, I've begun to think that Kentucky's claim to fame is the willingness of idiot redneck families to participate on "Wife Swap". Seems there's a KY hillbilly on every episode. When I also consider that our best cash crops are tobacco, marijuana, and whiskey, I'm a bit dismayed!

But rest assured, Kentucky is not all ignorance, poverty, and toxic habits. We're a beautiful state, home of thoroughbred horses, the Kentucky Derby, and the greatest college basketball tradition in the world... GO CATS! Close to my heart is also the fact that Kentucky was the birthplace and origin of the profession of midwifery in the United States, thanks to a brilliant visionary named Mary Breckenridge.

And, in case all you may know of Kentucky is what you've seen on Wife Swap... quite a number of us also have indoor plumbing, shoes, and college educations. ;) And we know how to brew tea!

Darjeeling something something in my cup, I forget which Lochan it was.

And where are you from ... ?

The poll choices are usually selected based more on anticipated responders. It is not possible to list all options since choices are limited by the forum's formatting. I guess I did OK since there is only 1 responder currently from the Asia, Africa, Australia bunched option.

I do the best I can.
entropyembrace wrote:btw, Chip there is no option for Mexicans...Mexico is part of North America the divider between North and Central America is at the border between Mexico and Guatemala.
True, I coulda, shoulda, woulda included Mexico in a selection ...
........................................................................

I could argue I am NOT from the northest, but I did not create nor name the regions. Southeastern PA near Philly.

Reading PA used to be known as "the outlet capital of the world in the day when factory outlets were right in the factory buildings. Now they call it the Pretzel City, whatever ... I might buy a bag of pretzels a year.

A lot of sports stars hail from here including Hall of Famers to sports stars who are now sports execs to Olympians.

A LOT of actors and musicians come here to "dry out" and sometimes end up staying. It is odd making a star siting of people like Richard Gere or Kelly McGillis in a small town. Reality show stars Kate and Jon live here. Whoopee ...

Began the TD with Yuuki-Cha from Yuuki-Cha, this is enigmatic fuka. Next up Yutaka Midori Kaoru Supreme LE from O-Cha, not enigmatic, with Mrs. Chip.

Chillicothe is most famous for the Native American History and mostly Tecumseh. Chillicothe has an outdoor drama about Tecumseh every year. I went to the drama many times as a kid and remember it being very good but haven't been in several years.

Second famous thing is our agriculture(corn basically)
I grew up in Columbus - my parents are still there, so I'm around occasionally. And a high school friend down in Circleville, so I'm almost familiar with Chillicothe. And a college friend of mine did Tecumseh a couple years ago.

And yes, lots of corn.

Cats are making me sniffly today, think I might go for some tea... I'm thinking Snowbud again.

I have relatives in Columbus. I grew up about 75 miles south of there.
The weather was a chief influence on my departing.

2010 Baozhong from TeaMasters in my cup currently.

Near Colorado Springs, Colorado, western USA. If I spin my office (ok, cubicle) chair around and look out the window behind me, I have a beautiful view of Pikes Peak, probably the most well-known landmark in Colorado.

Started the day with shincha, but it's turned hot and windy and very dry, so water is this afternoon's drink.
