Re: Tuesday TeaDay 7/6/10 10 famous teas of China?
I have had every tea on the Wikipedia list, but not every tea on the TeaSpring list.

If anyone's interested, the Wikipedia version can be found here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/China_Famous_Tea
Most notable are the additions of Silver Needle & Puerh.
I did end up having that shupu, even in the intense heat.
Maybe some AliShan later, seems more fitting.

Yep, I've heard of the "list," seen various incarnations of the list, although this list doesn't seem to follow with the lists I've seen most frequently. Where's the puerh, wuyi and silver needle (bai hao fuding type?) etc. Weird list.
edit: oh I missed the part where the list was made by the tea-seller.
Um, what's the matter? Don't have all the "famous" teas so they made a few substitutions?
I think the "10 Famous" list is a myth.

I enjoy Keemun but have not tried too many green teas. In the coming months I plan to try some greens from china.

Only tried the TKY and Long Jing.. believe I have some exploring to do...
p.s. Very odd that there's no Pu Erh on the list.

puerh looks a bit out of place on 10 famous teas lists because it´s a whole genre of tea and the rest are fairly specific...

Great TD, what else is new ... trials for OTTI 4 have dominated TD. So next up, trial for Rishi Nishi Organic and last the Shincha Kukicha from Rishi.
Should be a great OTTI #4 based on the trials over the last few days. Still a few spaces available!

A delicious TeaDay in spite of ignoring the 10 famous teas, at least, those on the teaSpring version of the list. Started with Shincha-mashup of the odds and ends of the various shinchas in the OTTI round I, mixed to give about 2 brewings worth of very nice but not awesome shincha; moved on to some smoky earthy puerh, just right on a gray afternoon with a sniffle building up; and now am working up to a last work assignment of the day with a pot of green tea from a Jin Xuan varietal from Taiwan. Not a famous tea yet but it deserves to be!

Yes I have heard of this list and enjoy several teas from the list. Its funny, when I think about the top 10 teas from china I think of that exact list from teaspring.com. I drink long jing, da hong pao and tie guan yin.
tie luo han in my cup today.
