It was rather grey and rainy here today-- wonderful tea weather! After this morning's tea, I had a longjing session and am currently drinking some shoumei white tea.

artmom, that is so wonderful! People like you are the reason I am involved with my local American Cancer Society Relay for Life. One of the most inspirational things ever is to see a huge crowd of cancer survivors walk the opening "survivor lap" of the relay. To have the strength to make it through treatment and come through the other side is remarkable.

Don't know what I do that is particularly surprising. I spend too much time online, really love tea, have a cat and a guinea pig and some fish, like to cook, and have too many long evenings at work just right for increasing my rate of tea consumption.
Tonight, had a lovely session with some Hawaiian oolong I got in a tea swap. Wow. More in the oolong topic.

OK, This TeaRoom TeaDay continues into Sunday, since I know everyone has something to share about themselves, that might surprise us, or not, but certainly something we do not know about you.
Of course be sure to share what is in your cup on this Sunday' TeaDay ... throughout the day.
I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Re: Saturday TeaRoom 7/10/10 Surprise us?
Hum.......... suprising facts.... hard to say what is actually "surprising".
From the age of 13 until about 22 or 23 I was a professional musician. Right thru my college years and a bit after. I was a drummer. Last group, Clear Sky (1968-1972), was very successful and right on the edge of the "big time". Opened for a number of major acts. Spent some time in NYC recording studios, etc.. (I've never had more money in my pocket.
)
Yeah... at only 13 I was already playing in clubs! They usually had to get special permission for that.
For some reason, I haven't sold my kit; Gretch champagne metalflake with Zildjins all around. Have only played in public twice since Clear Sky decided that the music business was "not a good thing". Haven't practiced at all. (Have tried some Taiko though in Japan.)
Sometimes I miss it. (Not the music biz though.) Mostly I miss Clear Sky's music. Great group of musicians, great writing. At least I have unreleased copies of some album master tapes I transfered to digital so I get to hear some old stuff. But I sometimes wonder where our music would be today.
There..... another side of my sordid past history
.
best,
..................john
PS: Clear Sky: Gary Morris, Christine Douquette (69-72), Harry Spring (68-69), Rolo Besaw, Bob Henderson, and myself

Re: Saturday/Sunday TeaRoom 7/10-11/10 Surprise us?
Thanks, John. I had great doctors, and a very supportive family!
Everyone's snippets of information are soooo interesting.
No tea yet today; was up all night until 5:30.
It was okay; I had a 5 hour "nap" from about 3 p.m. until 8 p.m.yesterday. I expect I'll have another all nighter today, then things will go back to "normal."
Think I'll try some new sample today; a darjeeling or assam from Lochan Teas.

Besides great tea, I love great food - especially if it has tea in it.

Re: Saturday/Sunday TeaRoom 7/10-11/10 Surprise us?
I had a private chat with President Clinton while he was president. I was standing alone outside a secured area because I didn't have top clearance to be in the room, when he walked right up to me and started talking. People were looking at me like "who is she??". That was kinda fun and the White House Photog was with him, so I got a picture too. My boss and even the mayor, only got a handshake.
Starting the day with Sungma Darjeeling.
Have a nice day everyone!

I play the guitar, tambourine, harmonica and sing, all at the same time.

Whoa, Victoria, that is really really cool!! (Sorry, I'm a bit of a politics junkie...
)
Rabbit, that must require a lot of talent and good powers of concentration. (I can't even sing and play the keyboard at the same time.
I get the rhythm, melody, etc. mixed up so badly, heh.)
Celebratory pu from the pu brick this morning, in honor of...the final game of the 2010 World Cup!
I loooooove football/soccer.
