DoctorD and Katy1977 good luck with your surgery!
I'm about to have some Keemun Rhapsody.
Re: Friday TeaDay 7/30/10 Fave tea for July?
My favorite tea this month is probably the 2005 Mingyuan Hao Yiwu cake I just picked up. It's very complex, creamy and developing nice woody undertones. Also, the leaves on this cake are gigantic and actually somewhat difficult to brew.
See what I mean?

Some Shincha I've had this month also ranks very high. YM Supreme and Takumi come to mind.
Today I had a session with 2007 8582 that Steve generously included with my latest order from Jas-etea. It is also developing nicely, makes me excited about my 2009 pressings.

Hard for me to decide. Toss-up between Floating Leaves Farmer's Choice Baozhong, Li Shan Cui Luan and Ishopo's Fu Shou shan - those 3 stand out for me this month.

Snowbud, hands down. Had some today, in fact. Now fixing up some Silver Needle to take with me to a friend's house for dinner!

Shincha methinks, thanks to Chip and his otti's.
Just found 100g of bai sha lu green from jing, forgot about that one. Always nice to come across little packets of tea that slipped off the radar. It's a bit perfumy but I'm brewing it rather strong, 60ml gaiwan, pretty much full of leaf and quite hot water. Checking back at jing's site it cost $2.99 for 100g. Might go a bit easier on it tomorrow.

2007 Mengku Muyechun 002 today, first sampling of the cake. Not great, not bad.
Rishi Nishi (rhymes!) shincha to end the day. Nice!

As usual, no clear favorite tea this month. Had excellent sessions with quite a few different teas, from Yuuki-cha shinchas (still not sure if I like the Honyama or the Sayamakaori best), to the OTTI I shincha medley (mix of the 'dregs' of each, which ended up a super cuppa); there was a gloriously long session with Lao Ban Zhang loose mao cha from Norbu and a new beautiful braided Yong De sheng sample, along with the always beloved 2007 sheng white bud puerh; to a long-awaited taste off between two Tie Guan Yin's (from Norbu and from Jing Tea Shop) that were so excellent I could not separate them and gave both a perfect 100%; and a rediscovery, thanks to a sample from a formal tasting (from the Cultured Cup), of just how rich silver needle Yin Zhen can be. It was a very good teaMonth, marred only by those moments when the tea I really was craving was not available--at home when I was at work, or vice versa, or didn't have enough time to prepare it. But the teas I drank 'instead' did wonderfully.

Chinese oolong was my favorite class of tea this month. Ba Xian from Teahabitat, shui xian from Hou de, and ban tian yao from Jing were all delicious and satisfying.
