I almost forgot about Ippodo. They have a set that includes chawan, scoop, whisk, tea cloth and matcha for $50. They state in the detailed description that the chawan, scoop, and whisk are all Made in Japan. They're a very well-known tea shop in Japan, so I would trust them. However, I think they only offer EMS shipping which may be expensive for this size boxed set.

Britt, why does almost everything you post here eventually turn into a rant against communism, the USA and whatever other political thing you want to rave about? This is a tea forum, are you incapable of participating in a thread without going off on 'the dirty commies are wrecking everything'?britt wrote: Life under communism is always like that. Looks like we're well on the way to trading places with them.

Bush Sr, Clinton, Bush Jr, Obama, and the next president along with all major, greedy corporations. Ross Perot and Ron Paul warned Americans about this.

Yeah, if you are ever a fan of the visiting team at a Philly game of any kind.entropyembrace wrote:sports are almost as dangerous as politics

If you read the previous post, you would see I was answering a comment someone else posted about Chinese slave labor, and it was related to the teaware discussion. Please read thoroughly before posting your pro-communist rants.Geekgirl wrote:Britt, why does almost everything you post here eventually turn into a rant against communism, the USA and whatever other political thing you want to rave about? You must realize that much of our tea and teaware, and everything else, comes from "commie China". That's a fact. It's also a fact that most of our jobs were offshored there, resulting in less money for us to spend on tea and teaware. Per this thread, we see how "Made in China" also affects the arts and crafts of Japan i.e. they're fast changing, if not disappearing. See how relevant the subject actually is to everything, including tea?
My problem with China is that pre-Mao, they were one of the greatest civilizations in history. Just about everything I like about Japan originated from China in some form. All of this ground to a halt once the US allowed Mao to seize power. They're now just a huge, low-quality manufacturing plant churning out junk. Yes, there's some exceptions, and I will do business with those in China who uphold quality and their arts. However, there's not nearly enough of them.

Ummm, does the mod need to call a "time out?"

Re: Matcha bowl?
Matcha Source, a US vendor, used to carry this same set. It was more expensive, but being a domestic vendor meant you saved on shipping. I didn't see it in stock when I checked earlier.TwoPynts wrote:That is a nice set Britt, thanks. I'm putting it on my short list.
When I first saw this set on Ippodo I'm pretty sure it was only $32 US. I still think it's a good deal at $50, especially with the three major items being made in Japan. I don't pay much less for just the whisks that I buy ($38).

Though I am amazed people who talk so Highly about Europe go off on America for acting a bit more like Europe.

But there are no winners or losers in politics only people talking about theories that are made up, due to history, and have little to do with any sort of facts.
