Interesting. That's a lot of money for a water conditioning pot.

I hope it isn't just for conditioning water. Thats too many pots to have at my desk at work.
Re: Shigaraki Kyusu
From the wording it seems like they were just using it to condition water because they didn´t want to dedicate the pot to a single tea.
Re: Shigaraki Kyusu
Correct. When I was testing their Pu-erh, they were pouring hot water into the Shigaraki, then into a glass pot.entropyembrace wrote:From the wording it seems like they were just using it to condition water because they didn´t want to dedicate the pot to a single tea.
Come to think of it, is that a good idea??? By doing that, I will only need 3 conditioning pot Purple, Red and Shigaraki to cater for my diff tea leaves. Then a glass pot or a porcelain pot for brewing the tea. In this way, my Purple, Red and Shigaraki will stay neutral in terms of not absorbing tea.
Re: Shigaraki Kyusu
The only issue I can think of with that is that the water will cool down with all the vessel transfers...not a good thing for some types of tea.

Seriously, if I got one, I would be brewing with it ...
Re: Shigaraki Kyusu
I am still debating on what I will use mine with. It will be a while before I can get it since it seems they are on vacation atm. I drink mostly chinese teas and i would love it if I could use it for Dragonwell. Which might be a good idea to have the teapot just for the water. I don't know.
So many possibilities, so little pots.

Just got Shigaraki Kyusu today.
Mr Hojo was there in the store. He taught me how to taste water/tea. Basically, your upper lips should not touch the cup. Your lower lips to be intact the the cup. Suck the water/tea directly into the end of your tongue. The water/tea should bypass your teeth and front tongue. Once the water/tea is at the back of your tongue, let it flow into your throat. Don't swallow it. Not an easy task... Burnt my tongue and choked cause sucked too hard. Need a lot of practice

This Shigaraki Kyusu is very rough. To just hold it feels rough, can't imagine how Tachi Masaki is able to take it when he is making it.
Though this kyusu is less better designed than my double chopped purple clay (also from Tachi), when I hold down the hole at the top cover while pouring water, the water stops instantly unlike my purple clay which will still flow but slower.
According to Mr. Hojo, he managed to get exclusive rights for Tachi to do Shigaraki Kyusu, but Hojo cannot guarantee whether Tachi will continue to do it. Surprisingly all the Shigaraki Kyusu is priced same even though the shape and size varies from 100ml to 300ml.

Very nice pot. But, did you use your right hand or left hand to hold the cup?auhckw wrote:Just got Shigaraki Kyusu today.
