I enjoy them here, but on some other places they're not as well done, and I do not like them.
I would not have been able to have as much fun with the TC cruise last week nearly as well if there were not a teaDay bringing together members who otherwise might mostly frequent different parts of the forum.
Today, I am enjoying a comparison between two 'Oriental Beauty'-style oolongs from Yunnan, one from Yunnan Sourcing, and one from Norbu. The setup here at the satellite office is not as sophisticated as at home, but I was pleased to realize that I do have the necessary minimum: scale to be sure I'm comparing the same quantity of tea, paired matched gaiwans, and hot water. Nice.
The day started with Sayamakaori shincha, and I have a thermos full of TGY ready for the long drive home a little later.

Re: Weekend TeaDay 8/14-15/10 Poll about polls.
second tea of the teaday.... O-cha´s daily sencha. It´s good but makes me wish I had some premium sencha...it´s a bit harder to brew, a bit rougher and not as intense as really good sencha is.
I am going to really owe Mom some of my sencha after how much of hers I have been drinking...even mine is more expensive.

+1 Well said.JBaymore wrote:In the context that you keep them here on TeaChat, they are good. Sometimes they spark discussion, sometimes they are simply fun. They add "character" to the place.
2009 Ma Hei Village puerh from Yiwu today. This tea has really beautiful leaves, characteristic Yiwu taste, very clean. I'm starting to learn what specific mountains taste like. It's also very fragrant.
At $40/cake

I really enjoy the polls, it gives me an opportunity to participate here and it's a lot of fun! I look forward to seeing what Chip will come up with next.

By the way Chip - I don't care much for the polls personally, but it gives some folks a starting point for discussion.
Love the Tea Day, keeps people coming back several times each day to see what their Tea Pals are up to. Unfortunately I can only manage a thoughtful post once or twice a week.
Maybe I will get a chance to make myself a nice breakfast tomorrow!

I usually enjoy the polls, they kind of make you think and can be very entertaining.
The last two days have been disapointments in the tea category, i have been on the road and havent got a travel routine worked out for tea. Yesterday i got white tea at a nice tea store in dallas, but unfortunately they brewed it with BOILING water!!! So disapointed its such a lovely shop. Today there was only time to stop by starbucks and grab a chai latte before heading to class. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
While tea was a fail, teaware wasnt so bad, i got a small tetsubin (16 oz), a washi (double lidded) canister and a larger glazed clay teapot at thrift stores for $7 total.

Lots of tea today - Stared with the Turzum Darjeeling as previously noted, then moved into some Ali Shan from floating leaves Tea. Then finally some comparison steeps of Zealong with my SIL using a shigaraki pot vs. a Petr Novak pot. For those wondering, we both gave Petr's pot the nod.

Re: Weekend TeaDay 8/14-15/10 Poll about polls.
In general, I like a good poll on the forum. It is interesting to see a microcosm of TCers opinions. And the results usually show how different we are from the rest of the world!
On TD since it has been discussion by everyone. I cannot imagine TD w/o a poll, sort of breaks the ice and gets things rolling along. TBH, it ain't easy, and I can understand writer's block even in simply creating a poll every day.
Soooo, if you have a poll suggestion for TD, please help the writing impaired moderator and PM it (them) to me!!! I can usually tweak it and make it carry over into the daily discussion topic.

Thanks Brandon for bringing Matcha to our TD!
Great TD starting out with Sae Midori and followed up by Yutaka Midori ... now if I only had some Oku Midori ...

This Weekend TeaDay continues through Sunday. Please stop in and share what is in your cup, discuss the topic, and/or discuss whatever you think might be interesting ...

I like the polls. They are fun. Thank you Chip.
I do think that it must be a lot of work for Chip and that perhaps we should help him think of ideas for polls.

last tea of my teaday... stale "organic sencha" from local vendor...saved by a quick roast in my cast iron pan...ish much better now!
It´s not quite a houjicha level of roasting...kind of houjicha lite.
