I dropped the ball on the first infusion...it was too long and too hot and was a bit bitter...second infusion was absolutely lovely...will see what the 3rd brings
Also I am not sure if it is the Tokoname or the Shino Chawan but I´m tasting a bit of a mineral flavour that wasn´t there before.

Could be the new teaware, did you rinse well with hot water? You can always give a short soak, if anything, I am betting the shino.
Or maybe something is wrong with your YMS, send it to me for testing!

I think it´s the Shino too...I did wash it...but it seems like I´m tasting minerals in the glaze a bit when I sip from it.

I think tea will be more accepted but not embraced yet.
I started my day with Turzum Darjeeling from Tea Emporium then moving into Floating Leaves Tea Nangan Baozhong - yum!

People certainly embrace tea here in Scotland. Unfortunately it's generally Tetley teabags with milk and often sugar. Can't win 'em all.
Enjoying some 08 sheng from Jing whilst watching kung fu movies.
Anyone else notice youtube have a movie section these days, complete with kung fu flicks? Most don't look to be up to much but there are some gems, Meals on Wheels!!!!

Good, then your course of action is simple.
OK, don't fall over from shock

... just finished 10 steeps of a prelim tasting of 2010 Mansai raw pu-erh from Essence of Tea with the Mrs. I am thinking sassafras root as the most noticable flavor. Will return to this for more steeps in a bit.

It's sad that so much of the 'new' interest in tea is in making it taste as little like tea as possible, when there are so many wonderful flavors available from just c. sinensis itself.

Ok I placed the chawan in a large mixing bowl inside the sink and filled the mixing bowl with hot, but not boiling water from the kettle (I was a bit worried about shocking the chawan) so that the chawan was covered...will let it sit a while and see what happens.

Yay Chip! Hope you enjoyed it!
I also had an Essence of Tea puerh today, the Manmai. It was good, just sooo young. The green-ness mutes the flavors a bit I think.
Going to brew up the 1997 Henlichang Bulang soon. Excited for this one.

True, though these seem better in that they are not chemically flavored. But so much is invested in flavors ...
Rishi is also investing much in Japanese teas, Organics, CFT, and on and on ... but it struck me as odd when I saw the new teas, all were flavored.
SLT currently, earlier SN, Sencha and Pu-erh.

Yes, I was a bit giddy as I was preparing to brew, it has been a few years since I had a raw pu-erh, and one so new.
I did not receive the Bulang, maybe next time.

I hate to say this but I think it will be less consumed and even fewer tea fanatics

Many people don't want to take the time to brew up tea when they can simply switch on the coffee pot or grab a canned/bottled beverage and I think this trend will grow in the future. I get this view point from many people around me that are just too lazy to even try brewing tea

I hope this is just around here and not everywhere.
On the other hand if some really good tea companies such as Adagio become very well established in the western countries and make available high quality loose leaf as supermarket tea instead of fannings in teabags its popularity will surely rise.
