My fiancee gave me the "Zen Small Bamboo Tray" from Red Blossom as a birthday present a year or two ago. It's simple and works really well; I like that it's all bamboo. I don't care for the black plastic used in many tea trays.

I have this one, where the whole top is flat, and it lets me use right up to the edge:
There is advantage and disadvantage about the two-step inner rim.

Advantage:- Reduce the risk of the tea set to topple over the edges

Disadvantage:- Less space :( Lucky I bought the bigger tray. Would have regret if bought the smaller tray

My tea tray just died. I've been using the same bamboo one in my office for 4 or 5 years. I've used it daily and it's sprung a few leaks which i've patched time and again. Well, finally the corner of it blew out, leaking tea water all over my documents and desk. So, I'm in the market for a small one myself.

Thank god no! No tea was harmed in the disaster. Only important work documents. At least you know I have my priorities straight.

I picked up a new one during my lunch break. It's a little bamboo one. Perfect for my desk.

Impressive and solidly built tea-tray. 8) Is it made from ebony wood? Where did you buy it?

Yes, indeed it is solid and so far no smell coming out of it when in contact with hot water. As for what type of wood, I don't know. They told me, but I forgot.

I bought the tray and my 2 zhuni teapot at Tacha, it is located on the row behind Tea-Li Kepong. They only sell their own brand teapots and puerh which are single estate puerh. Quite premium priced too ranging from <RM100 to >RM600 for 1 beeng. I've tasted 3 of their raw, and it is quite nice and refreshing. It has Hojo's puerh taste profile.

Thanks! I am familiar with Tacha teashop. This shop used to sell artisan teapots but has since switched to selling its own brand of teapots. I'll view their range of tea-trays the next time I drop by to Kepong.
