Much keemun this afternoon. In an hour or so, I'm going to try some of the gyokuro that my mother gave me as a back-to-college present, so I may end up changing my "tea of the month" vote...

Re: Monday TeaDay 8/30/10 Tea of the month?
My tea of the month would have to be the pu-erh brick I got in Chinatown a while back. In related news, one of my friends who doesn't like tea asked me if I had any coffee in my dorm because he needed caffeine. I said no and shared a pot of said pu with him... Which he loved. So my group of friends may have one more tea drinker now!

Great mom, Skippy!
Great tea today. Began with sencha with SweeTea while Pyrit and Ceylon were passive visitors. Next up, more sencha. Finishing with the same sheng session from last night, still really good! 2005 Nannuo Mt. from MandarinsTearoom aka TIM.

Yes, I was overjoyed when she got it for me!
Just drank said gyokuro and changed it to my tea of the month. It has definitely become one of my favorites!

In my cup this morning - Zhu Ye Qing from Teaspring. I was placing an order because I was interested in an upscale version of a tea I had tried several years ago, and I added a small package of this tea just based on the description. I'm happy I did. Tea of the month for me - Chinese Greens.

I gave top raves this month to three teas: a freshly opened package of last spring's Diamond Tie Guan Yin from Norbu, some Anji Precious Rare White Tea from Wing Hop Fung, and the 2007 White Bud Sheng puerh from Norbu. Of those, I have to give the nod to the puerh, because it has been so consistently wonderful. Tonight I'm brewing up some of the white tea again and I think I overdid the leaf to water ratio, and while it is good, it is not brilliant like the other day, and the Diamond Tie Guan Yin does lose a bit of that freshly opened perfection over a few weeks. The white bud sheng was more consistent this month, no matter how I abused it with careless temps and timings and storing in thermos.
Some older puerh today: first tasting of the sample of 1993 Menghai 7542 from Essence of Tea and my first puerh cake of unknown provenance from Wing Hop Fung, but now going greener with the white tea.

Matcha - Yuuki's Tenkei Hana.
Finally, a truly fabulous and wonderful matcha.
Just finished some silver needle, a bit of puerh, and finally a splash of a tisane.

Yihong, a Chinese red from Yixing area which I thought it was a Taiwanese as the origin got lost in translation due to communication issues.
This tea is virtually unknown outside the local area where it's produced and despite that it tastes great with an awesome gan and a long Chinese tea sweetness!

Mine is/was a Bai Ji Guan that I tried on a whim at a lovely little tea shop in Montreal. Good stuff.

Definitely the Four Season Spring oolong that I bought in July and put off opening for a few weeks (still not entirely sure why..)
