Re: Weekend TeaDay 9/25-26/10 Inanimate happiness?
I have many favorites, not just one: hobby (wildlife conservation), craft (woodcarving), books, music, exercise. They are all important to me, are all parts of who I am.

Music, then books.
While I was at Whole Foods today I came across an RTD bottle of Kombucha, made by Honest Tea. It's berry flavored or something, and it's actually not bad. Really not comparable to anything, tangy & fizzy. Can't really taste the tea though...
Later I had a nice session with a 2004 Changtai Shengpu.

'techie toys' - my iPad (which ive had awhile, pretty much the day it came out
) and my new iMac (just got it). But also a source of some stress as I now have to deal with getting all my PC stuff over to the Mac.
Matcha, now takumi.
Perhaps some puerh in a moment.
Cheers.
Ps- hi mrs. C!, and I agree, ultimate happiness does not derive from material 'stuff', however joy is often stimulated for me there. Also, there are many things on the list I could have chosen! Fancy food! Also swimming, cycling (even tho I have it on good authority the mod would kick my @$$), and hiking, all of which I do several times a week every week. Reading lately goes to tech as I've been going through 'The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant' on my iPad and iPhone as audio books.

Food, like tea, is part hobby and part craft and and opportunity to buy and use cool toys or tools.....and because the cookware and craft of the cooking is as much or more fun than the actual food, I'll put hobby/craft number one.
Today, it's too hot to do much in the kitchen besides sip a little tea, so no actual cooking now. Today's food experiments are limited to a couple of green teas brewing up chilled in the fridge for tomorrow. It takes a lot of heat before I get desperate enough to start on such foolishness. Otherwise, started with some shizuoka sencha, and drank a good quantity of warm rather than hot lemon-myrtle rooibos, and now am working on some dragon well.

I said hobbies and crafts...photography, DJing, cooking...pottery when I get a chance to do some...the act of creating inanimate things gives me more joy than buying and consuming them ever will (though I do quite a bit of that too
)
Teaday today has been slow...I was working in the garden most of the afternoon transplanting bushes so all I´ve had teawise today has been a bowl of kiri-no-mori matcha from O-cha...sweet soupy green goodness!
(I think I will make some more matcha)

For me it's hobbies and crafts, followed by books, music, clothes, and exercise all tied for second. My sketchbooks might be my most prized possessions, especially the two that contain the comic I've been drawing since high school. I need to take them with me if I'm going anywhere for more than just a few hours-- I'm terrified that something will happen to them.
I also love my sewing machine, my action figure collection, and the various stuff given to me by people I care about.
Pu-erh all day today, but now I'm shaking things up with some shoumei white tea.

I said "Money and lots of it" so I can buy all the "techy toys" I want, go on "trips" and eat "fancy foods" while I drive my all electric "fancy car" that I go to the stores to make and buy "crafts" for scrapbooking then head to the bookstore to buy "books" for me, family, and friends. I think you see where I am going with this.

+1! I love to read and the Kindle makes the experience that much better. I splurged on upgrading to the latest version, and the smaller size makes it perfect for carrying all you books everywhere you go!artmom wrote:Well, I needed two votes -- books and techy toys -- because I read my books on a Kindle!!!
Started today with a cup or three of Keemun Rhapsody. Sipping some iced sencha now while looking over the bay at the NC outer banks. Time to put the computer back up and get the Kindle back out

I voted for music. Is exercise an inanimate object?
Got my O-Cha order in yesterday. Kaoru Supreme = excellent.
Started today with the uji warashina asamushi. Gonna need practice with this one. Far too light so far. Without a scale or thermometer, I'm flying blind.

Black Dragon Pearls this morning, along w/a great detective story (that takes place in Britain), that features tea drinking at all hours of the day!

I never got to answer the TD topic ... money and lots of it, then I buy everything else. Perhaps that is an unfair answer, oh well, most of my polls are flawed anyway.
With the money, a bigger house with plenty of amenities including a Japanese inspired tearoom and garden, a fleet of bikes, a larger greenhouse to further related hobbies/crafts, the fancy car(s) I never owned, fancy food like sushi and sashimi every day, vacation vacation vacation ... well, that should do it to start.
Great teas all weekend, lots of sencha including some new ones.

Today wasn't just another TeaDay, it was a TeaPartyDay! A few of my friends and I took over one of the study areas on our quad and drank tea, ate snacks, and played games. A good time was had by all.
One of my friends tried a hibiscus tisane for the first time, decided she liked it, and is now getting a lot of it for her Christmas present.
I drank chunmei green tea and longjing at the tea party, some iced green tea after dinner, and just finished a cup of ginger tea.

I said techy toys, partially because I didn't feel that "fancy food" quite covers it - the happiness I get from food isn't from eating, it's from preparing, hence the gadgets!

A house with East and West wings, assuming I could afford the taxes, insurance and heating/cooling costs.
Actually, books and hobbies would be my tops. I love photography and tinkering with my photos in Photoshop. And I've got to have my books...
